it’s like that Mopar tech on YouTube pointing to black engine oil draining out of a Cummins, remarking that 10k miles was “too long”, and proceeding to rub some used oil between two gloved fingers and claiming he can “tell that it doesn’t have the same lubricity as brand new oil”
Anything to...
167 for iron is heinously high, especially at 44k miles. These 19+ trucks tend to contribute more iron in the oil than previous years, based on all the UOA’s I’ve seen. Fuel dilution is also very high at the 6.5%.
Rotella doesn’t handle fuel dilution well at all, which is why your SAE 40 oil...
Kussmaul Auto-Eject plugs
They’re pretty cool. Can use them to provide shore power, charge batteries, etc etc.
We had them on all of our trucks as well. They powered our onboard mini fridges full of bottle water and charged all of our cordless tool batters, portable radios, etc. They disconnect...
If you’ve never had one where you forgot to unplug, backed out, and the plug decided to stick (because you were stupid enough to use an extension cord with a locking plug), then recoil back like a spring and take out half the plastic of your front grill in -2°F weather…..
You’re clearly not...
Your 2025 should be priming the fuel system the minute you open the door. They’re programmed that way for 25+, which is why they recommend disconnecting the batteries when you’re replacing fuel filters.
That type of premature wear is pretty common for these trucks. Happens more than it should. Which is partly why I think we’re going to see a design change in the very near future.
Especially if the tech putting new parts in doesn’t take the time to inspect said parts thoroughly before installing, and misses something like this:
Indeed. Like I said, I’m sure component quality probably played a roll here, and likely idle time too. I just don’t know for sure.
I do know...
This one just showed up in one of my other groups. 25 cab and chassis (5500) with 9,600 miles on it. Not sure of idle hours but I’m sure they probably weren’t low being a C&C. I’m sure idle time played a contributing part in this failure, but suffice it to say this valvetrain doesn’t look to be...
It’s not really a study, it’s a “summary” of manufacturer recommendations regarding idling and how that behavior has an impact on the engines health and fuel economy. I would encourage you to read the summary (again?) in its entirety. I’ve highlighted some important points.
These...
please clearly point out the personal attacks and report them to:
@Brutal_HO or @AH64ID
Either one will be happy to evaluate such attacks and take appropriate disciplinary action as required.
There is no set “definition” but you can make an educated inference by means of interpretation of their oil change interval recommendations. Specifically where they state “short trips” in the severe service clause of oil change recommendations. IE: if they’re telling you to change the engine oil...
1000%
you’ve not provided a single solitary shred of fact. You’ve added anecdotal experience and opinion, none of which contained any actual factual evidence to support them. And let’s not forget to mention an outright lie (ie: “the OEM agrees with me” statement)
Thanks for proving my previous...
If you’re attempting to assert that the number of people who are “following” or “contributing” to one specific thread, in one specific category, of one specific Internet forum is in some way demonstrative of, or reflective of, the number of people who have experienced emissions or engine related...
@Pressure_welder
No engine, gas or diesel “likes” idle time.
It’s harmful to both. The only difference is, the diesels have the compounded issue of the emissions / aftertreatment system which compounds the problem.
You can own a modern diesel and have no issues provided your operating habits...
A myriad of electrical gremlins with the new “Atlantis” CAN electrical architecture.

A DEF level and pump unit that is flawed.

I’m not a fan of that recommendation either, however, in theory it shouldn’t be a huge concern because the filters should be installed and fully seated before any fuel is added. Since the system filters from the outside of the filter to the inside, the fuel passing through and to the HPFP is...
