2025 RAM HD Builds and Orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Metal clips to shrink and not make contact with fuse? Thermal expansion is so small especially at these temperature gradients and fuse tab sizes........I think this theory is incorrect.

I feel the whole fuse not being seated completely causing these electrical issues is ********.
Just an UPDATE on my starting issues regarding the seating of the Starter Solenoid Relay Fuse. It's now been several weeks since I completed this task. As of today I have had "ZERO" issues starting my truck several times on a daily bases. It's been sub zero temperatures in my area for the last couple weeks and my truck has sat in the elements without being started. Yesterday I decided to check my battery monitor and it showed "Battery Charge" was at about 63%. I was going to hook up my battery charger, but decided to see if the truck would start first. Truck started up immediately! In my humble opinion I believe I may have diagnosed my starting issues. I suspect the subzero temperatures may be the direct cause of my recent battery drain....

Sorry if this was mentioned before but when the new Atlantis arch was implemented in the 1500 many people had battery drains from factory. From my understanding there is a smaller 12v battery, similar to a motorcycle battery, that maintains the electrical system (BCM, etc). This battery is not used for starting. Not sure if the HD uses a similar smaller battery setup. So when you look at the batteries I'd confirm if there is a smaller battery in the motor bay that people are overlooking and may have issues with. The fix for them, from what I read, were software updates as some things were kept online even though the truck was off. Lots of theories out there.

Again - this may not be applicable to HD but......thought I'd throw it out there.

Have you tried hooking up a amp meter to battery cables to see what the draw is, if any, when truck is suppose to be sleeping? Curious if something is draining / pulling power in colder climates, or maybe its crappy batteries from factory, or dead cell in one of the batteries?

In answer to your previous post I haven’t see or heard about a second smaller battery anywhere on the 2500 HD trucks. Are you talking about the second battery used on vehicles where the engine cuts off during stops at red lights and resumes once you press the accelerator?

Originally suspected bad cell in battery because truck would start immediately when jumped. Replaced with new 4 year aftermarket AGM batter however, the problem persisted. Had the starter, alternator, battery system checked. Everything functioned as designed. Took the battery back thinking I might have gotten a bad one off the shelf. Asked the shop where I purchased to test the battery prior to installation. I watch them test it. The program took about 5 minutes to complete the test. Replaced the battery with an another new one.

Purchased a Bluetooth Battery monitor and installed. Have been testing the overnight drain for the last three weeks. In conclusion it looks as though the truck drains the battery slightly during the time it takes to completely enter into sleep mode (5%). It’s possible I have a slight parasite drain, but given I didn’t start or drive the truck for two weeks and the weather has been subzero during this time, I’m no longer concerned about the parasite drain if any. Battery after sitting for two weeks was still at 63% charged and enough to start the truck. A short 20 mile drive and the battery was charged back to 100%.
