I searched and didn't see anything related to this. (Who knows my searching skills might suck).
Anyway, just bought a 2022 RAM 2500 with a 6.4l about three weeks ago from a Mercedes dealer. Super clean, runs great and I have all the maintenance records. The problem I am running into is this pass weekend, I towed my new Travel Trailer that when loaded is right around 8500lbs. (Forest River Rockwood Ultra Lite 2908SRL) I am headed up about a 4% grade for about a mile in half and I have the truck at around 4000RPM around 50 to 55 mph and I start smelling antifreeze and look at the rear mirror to see fluid spraying the RV and then the temp gage starts climbing. I am able to get over the top of the hill and coast down to find a spot that I could pull over with the temp gage going back down to the half way point.
I turn the engine off, open the hood and discovered that top radiator hose has come off. Called a friend up who was able to get me some 50/50 antifreeze and plies to get the hose back on. Had no other issues and the temp stayed below half way.
Coming home yesterday and I go to go around a slower truck and trailer hit little over 4000 RPM's and bam, same thing happens again.

Anybody run into anything like this? Trying to get into a local shop to have a pressure test done on the cooling system.

Sounds like you may have a partial clog in the coolant system somewhere.
I pulled that same trailer with my PW up some steep hills at 6000Ft elevation and had no issues doing 60 MPH up them. Temps all stayed normal.

Thanks for the feedback. Funny thing is, with no load, the temp never moves from between a quarter to half on the gage. Like your username. I became a Shellback in August of 92.

Reinstall the hose with new worm drive clamps (OEM squeeze style clamps never work when reused) and change the expansion tank cap. Cap shouldn’t be allowing more than 21 PSI in the system without venting pressure.

Is the spout on the radiator ok?

The spout looks good. I was going to buy a new upper hose and go with worm clamps, but I decided to take it to a local shop and have them pressure check the system. Thanks for the suggestions.

My first trip across the line was in '87 when we did a world cruise, back when they still did a real initiation where they still beat you with shillelagh's. :p
Crossed 4 times total. Last time across was '97.
Made 4 deployments to the Gulf.

Nine times to the Gulf aboard a Garcia class Frigate and Belknap class Cruiser. Tours aboard mine counter measure ships in Japan and the Gulf as rotational crew. Shellback and Bluenose.

Make sure to flush that system and get the correct coolant. A shop used the wrong stuff in a Pontiac Gran Prix I had and it turned to jelly - no bueno.

@wrvond

Tin can sailor myself. Leahy and spruance class with a Forest Sherman thrown in for good measure.
Did a year on the Kitty Hawk as my first ship
Got my Order of Magellan, order of the ditch and did the Suez canal all on the first cruise.
USS Myfirstship was a Gearing class destroyer. :D
My airdale dad was aboard the Kitty Hawk when they had their big fire.
I did ride a carrier (don't remember which) for a couple weeks in the Med chasing down my ship but that's the closest I came to living on a bird farm.
I retired in Feb 2001 after a quarter century and went to work at the Pentagon as a civilian. What an amazing place that was!

Thanks everyone for all your insight and suggestions.
Started in the Gator Navy and moved over to an Aegis Cruiser. We were the 2nd Cruiser to enter the Gulf in August of 1990. Good times. Four Westpac's was plenty for me.

Started as a Airdale. Wanted to work on planes. Got sent to school to be a TD and work on flight simulators. Did too good in school and they sent me to the forest in Fla to work on Russian missile systems used for training pilots during war games. Got rid of the TD rate in '85, so I swapped to FTM.
Retired July '01 after 21 years. Did another 23 working out at Port Hueneme, CA for NAVSEA testing new ship board missile systems.

Was in the Gulf in '87 when the Stark got hit and again in '88 when the Vincense had their little mishap. Was on Halsey(DLG/CG 23) then.

If you look up Self Defense Test Ship, that's where I spent the last 25 years of my Career. Was the Chief Combat Systems guy, then went Civ and was the Combat Systems Lead for the ship.

You guys do/did cool ****. Thanks for all of it! I’m just a utility workin guy lol.

And I want to thank you for your service!
Without you we'd all be watching TV in the dark! ;)

Seriously though. I respect and appreciate anybody that keeps our country running. From the kid flipping burgers to the guys working on those high tension wires that use helicopters to access. If you get up every morning and go to work to support your family and provide a service, I salute you.
