Beth - the every man 4.5 Power Wagon

Finally got her out… on the stock 33… I’m beyond impressed. I felt like I was driving a bigger version of the Gladiator Rubicon I traded in for this truck. I did put the Carli skid to work though, worked awesome. I won’t be doing this trail again in the Power Wagon, at least not without a few more inches of ground clearance.

A before and after of my install, the Rubitrek’s at 45psi are right under 33.5 inches tall for reference. It tucked under the bed just fine and balanced beautifully.

I used JSCAN and my Infotainment.com bypass cable to make quick work of recalibrating the tires. The ABS system didn’t like it, so I had to reinitialize it from JSCSAN. Here’s the screen shot for reference if anyone needs to run it. I know I had a mini panic attack with the lit up Christmas tree.

Anyways, this truck is just badass. Makes no work of anything I have to throw at it. Whether hauling, wheeling, commuting, camping, etc.

Phone mounts, steps until I can afford WKO sliders, the ARB compressor, switch panel, 35’s and seat covers are the only mods I’ve found myself needing after a year. I had done 12 by the time I got my Gladiator from the dealer with 0 miles 5 years ago.

Cheers to my poor man PW!

Has anyone ever gotten 35’s and hated the way the truck drove? I’m not a heavy footer so acceleration and braking aren’t what I mean. The truck just feels floaty, not sure if it’s the stock shocks? I used to run 50-55psi in the duratracs and have these set to 40.

You’re probably a bit high in the rear. In my Rebel I run 40 front and 35 rear “unloaded”, and that’s with a few hundred pounds in the back.

I’m sure in practice it’s fine, I have all 4 at about 42-44 depending on external factors. I noticed a little steering wheel shimmy although the truck drives straight at about 45mph. Makes me want to get the tire’s balance checked. I do think it made the truck somehow seem more upscale. I don’t think you lose any flex with 35’s so I don’t know why Ram won’t just throw throw these on from the factory.

That definitely sounds like a balance issue, or possibly a tire out of round. That does happen occasionally.

If you drive on a lot of grooved or rutted pavement the wider tires can make it pull more back and forth.
