Crusty's 75th Annv PW #1590 build/mods adventure

Shafts look good

But in screwed for now.

This is what Fox told me the charging set up was. What all the videos show. And what all the companies sell.
A rubber puck and a set screw with a hole in it.

This is what the shock actually has. A set screw with a rubber o ring. No hole. And it's bigger than the rubber puck and set screw.
So I can't even drill and tap it to fit

Called Fox, gave them the part number of the shock. Guy says oh, yea that shock is different and uses a different setup to charge it. I can see if we have the tool and I can sell it to you. Or you can send your shocks to us in Georgia and we can rebuild them.

Well screw Fox and their shocks and special recharging set up
Just called summit and they have the Bilstein 5100s in stock at the local warehouse. So driving over there to pick up a new set of shocks
Wow, was really hoping it would all work for you. I have the King 2.5 from Carli, I would like to rebuild them myself, when the time comes...

I've rebuilt remote resi king shocks before. It's just a bunch of rubber o rings. Just take a good look at the shocks to see how you have to charge them. Could just be a schrader valve, which is the easiest way

The reservoirs have a cap on a schrader valve on my shocks... thanks

Out of curiosity I had to see how your Fox would be charged. Somebody overengineered that design. Here is the $400 tool

DAMN.

Fix called me back. I just told him to pack sand. Didn't even ask how much for the tool.

That looks more like a pain in the A$$ than the needle method

Simple and easy then. Just ask king what the spec is for setting the floating piston in the resi.
Also need to try and get all the air out of the oil/ hose/shock.

Plenty of videos on YouTube on the process. And I'll answer any questions I can on the process. I rebuilt the same shocks on my K5. But at 12/18 inches of travel

This is the fix not to have to buy the 400$ tool.

That could work, depending on the length of the valve that will stick out from the shock. Fronts are probably ok, rears id worry about.

But $20 a pop. WOW they are proud of them. But then again, Ive noticed everything there is double the price of most other places

Ya a little much they stick out .950 and a cap may add .050. I used them on my front shocks I have not done the rear yet. I change service all 4 in the spring.
