My 2024 Dually build thread

Thanks-

35/10.50R17 Load range E

I think you made an excellent choice of fires, and I was strongly considering those, but along the way, I started bumping into all these great reviews of the Venom tires. For the price, I am willing to give them a shot.

I also went with the .25" spacer as per your recommendation.

That's great! Im happy to hear there are other options in that size. Music to my ears.

Look at what showed up:

She's gonna look beefy!!!! Hell yeah

Cant wait to see it
Glad you're excited! I think you are even more pumped aboutut this than I am! ;-)

I am looking forward to getting rid of the thumping from the cupped tires in front, and I know I'll like a bigger tire in those cavernous wells.

I used my BlueDriver device to explore the throttle module.

The Blue Driver is a Bluetooth device that essentially turns your smartphone into a pretty advanced diagnostic tool. The story it told, which was a bunch of electrical things all pointed to one thing: Low voltage.

My theory is that I pulled the voltage down during the long/extensive cranking of the engine after I had drained the fuel rail during the Banks install business. Anyway, after recording them, I cleared the codes, and just like that, the throttle electronic module message vanished along with everything else.

I'm all better now. Everything works great, and I am a happy camper once again!

Being Black Friday, the excellent sales event, I almost pulled the trigger on a Diesel Dudes delete. But they were only offering a $75 discount, so I passed. I did, however, buy a supercharger for my Gladiator, saving $800, and some Rock Slide Engineering sliders for another $700 off. It was time to show a little love for the Jeep JT.

Now I just need to figure out which device I'm going to use to calibrate the speedometer for the 35" tires (Actually 34.51" O.D.)

I bit the bullet. Just ordered the cable and OBD port Bluetooth device. I'll go out and pick up a cheapo Android tablet and load Alpha OBD.

I researched the software...Wow! That does so much more than what I currently use.

A tip of the hat to G Mcpherson for the suggestion!

Have you looked into JScan for IPhone? It’s what I use. There is a lot you can do with it and the interface is relatively simple.

I have not-

I purchased all the Alpha stuff and will travel down that path.

Tire appointment in two days

And

That new Expedition One rear bumper is inbound.

I had a thought this morning. What if I painted it the same color as the truck as opposed to just doing the black urethane bed liner? Then pull the front one and paint it body color also??? Go with a monotone concept??? I was going to have the roof and the lower 6" of the body wrapped in black for an interesting, subtle contrast, but now I'm thinking...

You'll get varying opinions on the bumper painted to match factory paint

BUT

My worthless opinion is it would look awesome and unique. I say do it!

I'm certainly considering it.

Say, shoot it with a single-stage acrylic enamel with hardener. Easy to prep/spray and repair.

Went to the tire shop this morning to get the 35's installed.

But

Their machine had crapped out...What??

Yeah, gotta wait until tomorrow...

Thinking out loud here: My Big Horn came stock with Halogen headlights. I swapped them out for the lower-end Morimoto units, which are legal LED-powered projector units. They are, well, OK. Not great, just OK. Having run the more powerful lights in the past, the Morimoto units do not cast nearly as much light. In fact, they are not as good as the stock LED headlights in my 2022 Ram 3500 Laramie.
So, considering the Alpha OBD system, I can change the front headlights to LED within the BCM. I am wondering if, having run these Morimoto lights all this time with the BCM thinking they were Halogens, is responsible for their "less than stellar" light output???

Has anyone come across this before?

Probably a pretty simple swap. The Oracle @Jimmy07 will know how involved it is.
