I have owned Rams since 2007- (both 1500s and Diesels) - never had a major problem.
I traded my 2023 Ram 3500 for a 2024 Chevy 3500 DRW - with less than 2000 miles the Intermediate shaft on the steering failed. It also had bad front hub extensions. They just happened to get another truck with...
I called GenY and they told me it wasn't something I could change out. Jayco uses the BMPro, which is ok but can be touchy if your finger isn't placed just right on your phone screen.
You will like it - the only thing I don't like about mine is the hitch release - I have the version where when you pull the cable to release the the hitch off the ball you have to hold it open. The only way I can drop the landing gear is to pull the hitch release and use my App on my phone to...
No and Reese is only approved probably because Lippert is their distributor - I am sure Reese doesn't want any competition in the "approved" area.
So I do not put a lot of weight in Lippert "approving" a hitch....when money is a driver...
Lippert doesn't endorse Gen Y. Although Gen Y had done testing with Lippert, they wanted big money to approve Gen Y Hitches and Gen Y decided it was not a good business decision I guess. I read on some of the Grand Design forums that Gen Y passed the testing with flying colors. But of course...
I don't really see any more chucking than when I had a traditional 5th wheel hitch. Chucking is going to happen with any setup as its caused by road conditions, Gen Y shock absorption does pretty well. They do say you need about 1000 miles of break in however.
My 2022 Jayco Pinnacle 5ver frame is Lippert. I am not to concerned with the GenY setup as the majority of the frame failures(frame flex) seemed to be the Grand Design Toy haulers. I have been using the Gen y for 2 years now without any issues.
I have the Gen Y and certainly do not need any offset on a long bed. Friend of mine has a 3500 SRW Mega cab with the Gen y and no off set. These new 5th wheels have caps designed to give you more clearance. I wouldn't worry about an off set.
My buddy tried to get a full 90 degree but...
