I did the same as Crusty and had the resonator removed and the tail pipe move up closer to the body which cost me $70. I have a stainless tip. I am very happy with the sound and no drone.
I drove mine today for the first time since turning HSA off and I have to say I did not notice any of the surging I have been dealing with. Could this be something that only effects the ZF transmissions as opposed to the previous models?

Mine just started doing this about a week ago. Feels like a bucking/surging under light throttle. I have 8500 miles on the truck and run it on Valero or Shell 89 octane.
Just thought I would report back I got a call from my dealer this morning that the part had come in. I picked it up this afternoon and installed it. It took longer to get the tools out and the taillight out than it did to get the part installed. Took about 4 months to get it but it works great!
I paid for the one my dealer ordered up front so I am going to let it ride for a while and see what happens. If it does become discontinued they will just credit my money back. I can't imagine them being discontinued with so many being installed on trucks for a few years now. These days who...
