Just a heads up that Transfer Flow is running a FREE SHIPPING promotion, apparently through "the holidays" though I don't know an exact date. Could save you $300 or so, depending on where you need the tank shipped. I'm pretty sure you have to phone in your order to get the discount.
I’ve had some discussions regarding pricing on the new RAM gas tank. Just a reminder to folks that Transfer Flow’s RAM tank is a STEEL GAS tank, so it has a very different cost compared to PLASTIC DIESEL tanks on the market. (Compared with diesel tanks, Gas tanks require far more engineering...
*** BIG NEWS ***
The Ram tank is officially ready to go! The first production run is scheduled to wrap up on 11/26!
Transfer Flow has already begun sending the first round of pre-order invitations to their waiting list, starting with the customers who have been waiting the longest.
Transfer...
@Rockcrawlindude
For reference, TF's Ford Superduty replacement Gas tank is made from 12/14ga and the TF website ALSO SAYS "no skid plate needed." Considering that, I'm pretty sure that Teri's quote (above) regarding the RAM tank “Our tanks are 10-gauge aluminized steel and do not need a skid...
Perhaps a typo from Teri when she wrote 10ga. to me in email. I also read that SEMA poster as 12ga, which makes some sense considering that the transferflow website shows the replacement tank for the Ford SuperDuty (Gas) is "built from 12- and 14-gauge high-yield U.S. aluminized steel"
EDIT...
I asked, but they are at SEMA, so no answer back yet. But gasoline weighs 6lb/gallon, and the tank will add 15 gal over stock. So, 15 x 6 = 90 additional pounds of fuel.
Also, the factory tank is plastic and the replacement tank is steel, so I'm gonna guess (just my personal guess) that the...
I’m way out of my league on this topic so I have no personal opinion, but below are a couple of recent quotes from Teri @ Transfer Flow (sent to me via email this week) that might be helpful:
“Our engineers have cleared the tank for all trim packages. The tank will not be lower than the current...
BIG UPDATE !!
The RAM tank has now passed all CARB-required testing, and the first production run will begin soon! Tanks could be available by end “end of next month”!
TF is still waiting to receive the “executive order” (EO) from CARB, and then can sell into California. In the meantime, as...
Teri at Transfer Flow told me that they "don't anticipate any issues with fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch receivers based on their location." If I understood correctly, this is because the canister assembly on the Ram mounts to the frame rail in front of the fuel tank. Apparently, Transfer Flow...
ANOTHER UPDATE:
The Ram replacement tank has been “slightly delayed” due to some questions raised by CARB. I am told that they are small items, but that they will still require “some time” to address.
So, overall, the project is still advancing, but at a slower pace than expected.
Teri...
Unfortunately, STILL dealing with this automatic mirror UNFOLD problem. When I'm going down a tight trail, I fold the mirrors in to avoid damaging them. But, then mirrors automatically UNfold as soon as I reach 10MPH.
Another annoying "nanny" feature in the 2023 HD RAM: I will sometimes...
UPDATE:
The Ram tank is still moving forward. Transfer Flow recently received green light from CARB to proceed with emissions testing. They're working through a "few final details" and will begin testing shortly.
Assuming testing goes smoothly, they'll likely then need to wait a few months...
