THE REASON FOR TRADING THE REBEL IS RELATED TO THIS POST. LAST FRIDAY I TOOK HOME A NEW POWER WAGON WITH THE THE 2ZP PACKAGE. I DROVE OFF THE LOT VERY HAPPY WITH THE TRUCK. GOT HOME AND SET UP THE SYSTEM WITH PHONE AND THE OTHER DISPLAY SETTINGS.. IT WAS GREAT. THE SECOND TIME I STARTED IT THE SCREEN WAS BLANK AND NEVER STARTED UP AGAIN. IT WAS AN ISSUE KNOWN TO THE DEALER ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND THEY HAD ORDERED A REPLACEMENT CONSOLE.. IT WAS AN ISSUE I KNEW OF IN THE PURCHASE DISCUSSION, THAT IT WOULD SOME TIMES SHUT OFF AND THAT THEY HAD ORDERED A REPLACEMENT CONSOLE FOR THIS TRUCK..
IT DID NOT RESTART AND SINCE THE NEW CONSOLE WAS EXPECTED ON OCTOBER 7, YESTERDAY I JUST DROPPED THE TRUCK OFF AND TOOK A LOANER HOME EXPECTING THAT I COULD PICK IT UP IN A DAY OR TWO WITH THE NEW CONSOLE.. IN CONVERSATIONS YESTERDAY, MONDAY, THE DEALER HAD FOUND OUT THAT THOUGH THE CONSOLE ORDERED A MONTH PREVIOUSLY HAD BEEN EXPECTED, THAT DELIVERY PLAN WAS ONLY HOPEFULNO PART WAS REALLY EXPECTED. CONTACT WITH THE PARTS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM LED TO THE DISCOVERY THAT NO SHIPPING DATE WAS AVAILABLE PERIOD. i TRADED THAT TRUCK BACK IN FOR A DIFFERENT ONE WITH WORKING CONSOLE AND ELECTRONICS.. BUT MY EXPERIENCE POINTS OUT WHAT I AM SURE OTHERS HAVE DISCOVERED ABOUT REPAIR PARTS FOR RAM AND OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES..
THIS PROBLEM IS THAT THE LOCAL DEALER AND ANYONE IN CHRYSLER OUTSIDE THE PARTS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM HAS ALMOST NO POWER OR ABILITY TO APPLY PRESSURE ON DELIVERY OF ANY PARTS.. THEY COME FROM SEPARATE COMPANIES AND THEY COME GROUND DELIVERY AND YOUR DEALER ALMOST POWERLESS TO CHANGE THE DELIVERY SPEED.
AS A CUSTOMER I CAN CALL IN TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE LINE AND IN A VERY SLOW MULTI LEVEL PROCESS I CAN BE ASSIGNED A CASE MANAGER, WHO WILL ONLY INTERVENE AFTER AT LEAST 24 HRS, AND ATTEMPT TO SPEED UP THE SHIPMENT.. OF COURSE THEY SYSTEM IS PERFECTLY DESIGNED TO LEAVE THAT PERSON WITH ONLY THE OPTION OF TELLING YOU THAT THE ORDER, IF NOT ON BACK ORDER, HAS SHIPPED GROUND AND WILL ARRIVE IN 7-10 DAYS.. THE CASE MANAGER CAN ONLY INTERVENE IT SEEMS AFTER THE ITEM HAS SHIPPED AND DELIVERY SPEED CAN NOT BE CHANGED OF COURSE..
THIS WAS IMPORTANT IN TRADING MY REBEL, IT CAME EQUIPPED WITH AIR SUSPENSION THAT BEGAN TO FAIL IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR.. I LEFT THE TRUCK 5 TIMES AT DEALER FOR REPAIR BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND LAST FRIDAY OCT 5. THREE OF THOSE TIMES PARTS HAD TO BE ORDERED AND RESULTED IN A TOTAL OF OVER 40 DAYS WITHOUT THE TRUCK WAITING FOR THOSE PARTS. THE OTHER TWO REPAIR TRIPS WERE 4-5 DAYS. SO MORE THAN 50 DAYS WITHOUT THE TRUCK, MOST OF IT RELATED TO THE SHIPPING PRACTICES ON PARTS. IN A PIECEMEAL WAY MY AIR SUSPENSION WAS REPLACED A PIECE AT A TIME.. WHEN I TRADED THE TRUCK IT HAD ALL BEEN REPLACED BUT THE COMPRESSOR AND THE RIGHT FRONT AIR SHOCK. THOSE CAN BE EXPECTED TO FAIL IN NO MORE THAN 6-8 WEEKS, I COULD NOT BRING MYSELF TO TAKE THE TRUCK HOME AND WAIT FOR THOSE LAST TWO PARTS TO FAIL SO I TRADED IT.
ITS A PERFECTLY DESIGNED SYSTEM TO MINIMIZE SHIPPING COSTS AND TO CREATE AT YOUR DEALER A LARGE PARKING LOT FULL OF TRUCKS AWAITING PARTS.
