I have installed the plug for the engine block heater, but not sure how to tell if it is working. Should I notice a higher oil temp or coolant temp when starting the truck? I had it plugged in the other day, but the fluid temps seemed to be at ambient when I started it up.

Yes, you should see a higher coolant temp. 90 minutes of operation should get it around 80-100° depending on the ambient conditions (wind/temp).

I don’t have one on my current truck, but on my previous cummins I’d plug it in and on the passenger side and by the front tire if you stuck your head in the wheel well you can hear it sizzle the coolant after a few seconds.
