Does North America Need A Modern-Day Mid-Size Dakota Pickup?

Should The Dakota Nameplate Return?

As the full-size pickup market continues to grow in size and price, automakers in the United States are offering more choices than ever before in the mid-size pickup segment. Manufacturers like Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, Nissan, Honda, and Toyota, are about to be joined by new all-electric options like the Rivian R1T and Alpha Wolf. But where is the RAM brand?

Yes. As long as it doesn't look like that. Then again, would anyone buy it?

Colorado lit the fire then dropped to third place after a few years though. That's a tough market to pull people from due to Tacoma. It outsells all others 3 to 1. RAM is probably content selling 1500s at this price point. They don't have a huge loyal following ready to take back a nameplate that was firmly 3rd place among the Big 3 since forever.
