Any reason not to remove the EGR cooler?

The EGR valve no longer works, is there any reason not to remove the cooler? The only possible reason I can think of is the cooler may help warm up the engine faster during the extreme cold days.

I left mine on just so at a glance it looks legal but there is no reason to keep it.

the only reason to remove it is that it may leak over time.
