2024 ram 3500. diesel start up

When starter is engaged sometimes the motor fires right off other times the starter will stay engaged for 4 to 5 seconds before motor starts. Had in shop they said no recalls or updates were available. Having owned 4 other ram diesel’s since 1991 none of them did this. Maybe someone can give me a direction to take.

My 22 does the same thing. I remember reading that it is common, but I don't remember the cause. My 04 still fires right up.

It’s normal for them to crank long these days, it’s a computer thing.

I would time it thou, 4-5 seconds is much longer than normal. 1-2 seconds, even thou it feels like 4-5, is more normal.
