2022 Ram 360 Trailer Camera System backwards compatibility for 2021s with Digital Rearview Mirror

Ram recently announced some feature upgrades for the 2022 Ram trucks, including a 360deg Trailer Camera Kit. I'm sure it's not cheap but it seems like a slick way to add a trailer observation camera to the truck if you already have the digital rearview mirror. It would be nice to not need an extra screen on the dash for an observation camera monitor. The system also allows for the 360deg Camera system to work on the trailer, which I would love and I'm sure will lead to fewer arguments with the wife I'm sure when backing up the fifth wheel. I pick up my 2021 Ram HO Dually in a couple weeks and it has the Digital Rearview Camera and the truck 360 camera system. Anyone have any idea whether I could buy the new trailer camera system and use it on my 2021?

Check the link to TFL Truck for all the announcements. No engine/tranny changes for 2022 from the looks of it.

I would expect the system requires the Uconnect 5 coming in 2022.

Currently, the 12-pin is all analog and setup for only 2 cameras.

I have been working with a dealer to get a 2022 3500 ordered and it looks like the XN1 option is about $1000. Not sure if you will have to purchase a separate camera kit (like you do on the trailer camera kit).

The surround view camera displays on the Uconnect screen like the truck 360 does now.

To see a trailer camera in the digital rearview mirror, you need the XH7 camera.
