I'm looking to upgrade the stock alternator to something with more amperage. I am aware I will need larger cables, does anyone recommend any certain brands?

Always better to have a backup and if the alternator fails you can get a new one anywhere no special ordering one. Also its more amps. My factory dual setup is 440A

I would install the dual alternator setup personally

Exactly!

The wiring to control the 2nd alternator is already on the truck.

You would need the 2nd alternator and bracket, main cable, dual alternator belt, and something like AlfaOBD to enable to control in the ECM.

Aside from all the reasons already listed the dual alternator setup has a lower average load on the alternator as well as more total power available and at any rpms.

The biggest aftermarket single alternator I’ve seen is 370A vs the stock dual setup at 440A for the 6.7.

The dual alternators put out up to 335A at idle (75°) and up to 286A (200°). At 60mph in OD you have over 400A (75°) and 350A (200°) available. You likely won’t match that with a single alternator.

I’m the proud new poppa of an 2024 3500 HO limited. The truck didn’t come with the aux upfitter switch which I’m trying to workout as well as the dual alternator. With a full garage the new truck sits in the driveway for two weeks now, not a happy old man, attempted to locate the pigtail for the second alternator, drivers side today, cold windy and snow rain and sunshine inflicted it’s rather on me which cut my time outside to near life threatening moments, haha. Is the attached photo of the pigtail for the second alternator? Any help guidance welcomed. I’m an old timer that’s forgotten a great deal of near seventy years experience with mechanics and applied help is welcomed. Thank you.
Lou
