Federal code requires that the manufacturer spec the vehicle, and can re-spec the vehicle. They must be able to show proper analysis and justification. Coach builders can also modify these ratings, with the same analysis, but they must receive an incomplete vehicle, such as the chassis but not...
So you can just change those ratings, without being authorized to do so, at a whim or without proper evidence of testing and recertification studies? And that will hold up in civil court? No, it does not work that way.
They would have to certify the entirety of the vehicle can operate over the specs from the manufacturer. The axles are not all the same between 2500 and 3500, the 3500DRW uses a slightly larger axle. If you run a 14,000lb gvwr truck over 14,000lb with only adding airbags, you are going to be...
You should quit saying things like "with bags it will be safe." It won't be safe with bags or not. That is simply too much weight on that truck. Bags can help stiffen the suspension and level the truck. They do not add payload to the truck, they do not remove axle weight.
You will not have enough payload imo. A 2500 with the diesel will not have enough payload for the spec the brochure lists, and manufacturers are notorious for underreporting the true pin weight. Most would say that is firmly in 3500 territory and some would even advocate for DRW.
Any way you slice it, the DRW is the better choice. It will be a more comfortable tow and you will have payload to spare. The SRW *might* work, the DRW *will* work.
I found the three filters needed (2 fuel, 1 oil) much cheaper on Amazon for the Mopar branded ones individually. Ordered the Rotella T6 5w40 3 gallon kit as well. About $150 for all of it.
EDIT: I looked at a description closer and even though the description showed both fuel filters, it...
Sure, but 30 seconds to pick a lock that they says has to be picked a lot of times according to the manufacturer is ridiculous. Watch the video on it and how little skill it takes. I spent $150+ on those pins, they are not cheap throwaway pins as they are man. I would change them if I were you.
These don't have the similar issues with a weak spot in the pin like many. Not saying they cannot be broken, but they are so easy to pick I am sure that is how the hitch was taken. I just didn't occur to me to take it off when I had to leave it outside for a couple of nights since it is always...
I have had a B&W Tow & Stow hitch on my 3500 for a couple of years. I left it sitting outside on my driveway for a couple of nights. During that time, someone stole my hitch off my truck. It was a $400 3 ball with 8.5" drop. I bought a 4-pack of the locking pins for $150. All are now gone. I...
