I had the same thing on my 2021 2500. I ordered these and worked perfectly - 68073528AA. Sprayed some woolwax first up inside the holes then popped the plugs in.

I also was thinking about this. I was wondering about a slim black rubber cover or something to slide over the lock/button, then could just easily take it off when needing to open. But not sure what it would look like
