Just ran another inadvertent octane test. Was traveling, and only had access to what was marked as 87 octane (which is the minimum stated requirement). Sure as hell, it started pulling timing (ST Knock Retard in Alfa) after this. Not a LOT. It was pulling 4 degrees with 86, on 87 it was...
Ethanol is roughly 30% less energy dense than gasoline. That's straight ethanol, not E-85. Doing the math, E-85 would be 25.5% less energy dense. No one runs straight E-85. Hell, most E-85 isn't 85% ethanol (often less than 85%). E10, meaning 10% ethanol would be 3% less energy dense than...
AlfaOBD or Torque. In this case, I was using AlfaOBD and plotting it out. You can see the knock retard. You can actually feel it, which led me to pulling out the OBDII and logging, confirming what the butt dyno was saying.
I routinely run ~25% with no issues. But it seems like E15 is the sweet spot. I just like the solvent properties of E.
Noticed that the ECU is really touchy on knock retard. Was pulling 4 degrees of timing with straight 87 under load. Threw enough E in to get me to 89, and it almost...
Same here. I bought a new '19 TRD Pro. Absolute worst piece of **** I've ever owned. Worst transmission/engine combo I've ever owned. ****tiest interior I've ever owned.
Thankfully the TuRD fanbois out there paid me what I paid for it. Could not sell it fast enough. Will NEVER own...
Really impressive workmanship and write up.
However... SPADES?!? Kidding, somewhat. Why not go with weatherpac, metripack, Deutsch, etc? They're weather tight and look OEM. I mean, I see you used the marine grade stuff, which is great, but spades (or any other solderless terminal) is about...
Not quite. The 8HP75 is the same between my Diesel Gladiator and the PW. The Charger has the 8HP70, which is simply a slightly lower rating of the same transmission.
Well, I suppose that sounds more dramatic than it really is. For most any other gear, with light load, it'll shift around 2k rpm. For 5th, it'll hang till around 2700 before shifting, then it'll only stay in 6th for about a second or two, onto 7th.
I have two other ZF 8 speeds (Diesel...
I'm hoping this addresses the tranny hanging onto 5th for an inordinate amount of time, then basically forgetting that 6ths exists.
It did this with the OEM tires and still does it when reprogrammed for the 35s.
In a way, it's a bit of a step backwards. Now the actual nav portion is even smaller, and the music portion is redundant. Now, if they made it full screen, with the stuff that coolwalk puts on the side, on the bottom instead, it'd be great.
