Review Camera not working after swapping from 5" to 8.4 with NAV

So finally got the radio working as expected all but the backup camera. My screen says camera unavailable when I go into reverse with a blue screen. I have not been able to get the camera working since the swap. I have swapped back to my 5" temporarily a couple of times and each time the camera works fine when I put it in reverse. I drove it 3 times today and the final trip for today was a 2 hour trip pulling the camper. Again tried reverse and nothing but it saying camera unavailable. Is there a setting I need to try or do I just wait and see what happens. After messing with this for about a week I just want it to work lol. This is the final thing that isn't operating.

It may be an issue with the camera being incompatible with your new 8.4. For whatever reason there are Analog cameras and digital cameras used on these trucks depending on what infotainment system is in them. It's possible you're old 5.0 was using an analog camera, and the new 8.4 is looking for a digital signal.

I verified with Jimmy07 and he said it is the same digital cameras on the 2019 HDs. This is the camera I have. I have checked and checked connectors and they are pushed in fine. I swap back to the 5" and it works everytime. I have never got it to work on the 8.4. I verified with Troutman the previous owner and he said the reverse camera worked fine.

Reverse camera worked fine when he had the radio installed on his truck. Sirius XM and all other settings come up fine. I do get a logo saying backup camera and when I put it in reverse screen stays blue. Here is what I get.

What year truck was it out of, I had a similar problem even I first hooked up my uconnect 12. It had a really old firmware because the donor truck was one of the first 2019's, after I got the firmware updated the camera started working right away.

I cant find what firmware my 8.4 is on. I did find map software version. I also don't know how to check for new firmware since my vin on my truck doesn't show the 8.4 to update it.

I am asking what year his is. He has a 2019+ 2500 with the cummins. I have the 6.4. He said he had no issue.

Found how to check software version. I am at 20.37.11. BootMicro version says 18.41.01

If the truck is 2020 it should be alright. Maybe pick up a 6ft universal Fakra cable on amazon and hook it directly to the back of the radio and see if it works.

Anyone have a part number on the cable that goes from the radio to the camera. I know the connectors are keyed a certain way.

I ordered one and I'll give it a try. So frustrating everything works but the backup camera. Same cable and I can hook the 5" up and it works Everytime. I hook the 8.4 up and after a day it still says camera unavailable. If I pull the battery for 15 or so mins when it comes up it acts like it sees the camera but I don't get picture. It does this.

Wait about 30 mins and I get this message. Then it stays that way. So does the fakra connection on the radio also supply the voltage to the camera to power it up.

Here is what I have as far as software on the radio. I don't have a way to download the newest firmware cause the radio doesn't match my vin.

I've actually looked up trucks for sale on ebay and put those vins in and they all have came up the radio is up to date and won't give me access to the software.

Is the radio from a 1500? I know my 8.4 is out of one and my uconnect buttons on the steering wheel don’t work and I lost my dynamic reverse lines or whatever it’s called
