Opinions on best A/T Tire :)

And I changed my mind again. I am not going with the Toyo OC AT3. they are 9lbs heavier per tire than my current OC AT3 (20"). Im gonna give the GY Ultraterrains a try. I know they are a modified Duratrac. I had the Duratracs on my Jeeps in the past, and they were great tires.

Lets see how these go.

I'd be Leary if they are anything like Duratracs. They are great tires (duratracs) on light vehicles (wife has them on her jeep) but they do not fair well on heavy trucks. They wear quick and have a very loose ride especially after some time. Also the ones posted earlier only have a 121 load rating which is pretty low.

SOAB! I didnt look at the load range. Ugh, you are right. Im going to change again. Haha....DiscountTire is going to hate me.

Check out Toyo rt I love mine did a 1000 mile day yesterday Missoula Montana to warren Minnesota. Quiet and smooth. I have had ko2, at2 and at3 and wild peak at3w. All good tires but RT on heavy rig feels great.

Hmmm...I was looking at them. Thought they might be a bit squirrely with the tread.

I have ran them on jeeps since they first came out and love them on my power wagon. I do both on and off road miles. And not squirrelly at all

I might pass on them for now. They are heavier than the AT3's and cost more. Most of my driving is on road at the moment. But, but....my brother just got them for his GMC AT4. So, i will keep an eye on them, and pop them on the list next time around. Thanks for the info!

Curious...has anyone ran or have any experience with the GY Wrangler Ultraterrain AT? I have been seeing decent reviews. The Grabbers are on backorder at the moment. And this is in stock.

Granted it wasn’t on an HD truck but I had these in a 275/60/20 on my ecodiesel. Put 10,000 miles on them, a couple thousand pulling my RV fish house around and they only wore off 1/32nd of tread when I brought them in for the first rotation. They were fantastic tires. I was able to go through deep snow on the lakes with no issue. Great in wet conditions as well and they are quiet

Yeah I have seen a few Chevy guys rub these on their 2500 duramax with no problems or complaints. I know the toyo will be a better on road tire. But damn they are heavy.

Again, all true. Hate these on an HD and they wear fast.

I suggest you look at the Yoko X-ATs but I don't want to add another option or your Discount Tire sales guy is going to scream.

Order cancelled. I went ahead and grabbed the Toyo Open Country A/T 3s. I have them now with no complaints, cheaper than the BFG, and are in flipping stock. At least I know the treadwear with them vs the GY Ultraterrain.

I really wanted those Grabbers though...but 3-4 week time sucks. My wheels will be in later next week.
At this point what is a 3 week wait? If my life decisions have taught me anything it is that if you want something and settle for something else you will regret it.

I agree with the above, just order what you want and wait. It will go by quicker then you think. Last year I was in need of tires and wanted to try something different. Discount said it would be a ~4 week wait but I ordered any way. Went by quick and I got what I wanted.

I went with these Dick Cepek Trail country EXPs and have been pleased with the wear so far. Wearing better then my Nitto's (ridge and EXO grapplers). They are a little louder not doubt but that's because there are a little more aggressive as well. Doesn't look like it the pictures but they do have wider lug spacing then some of the other AT's out there. It's somewhere between a AT and mud (more AT though).

I just put a set of Pirelli Scorpion AT plus on my 1 ton. These are my summer set so I wanted something that had a nice aggressive look but was quiet and smooth on the highway and towing. These were right there with the Continental Terrain contacts for comfort and quiet ride but they are still aggressive looking. They also have the 3 peak snow rating too if that’s important to you.

Excellent point...This seems to hold true in my world also!

You know...very good points. Ive ordered what I wanted, the ATX. Ill wait. I dont feel ike spending $1400 twice. Its funny though, the guy was a little snippy :) Hes like "I dont know how many tires we have coming in now". I said "cancel the shipment, they dont send them same day" He didnt like that. Nor did he as for a deposit. If he keeps it up, Ill place an order someplace else :)
