2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

So I'm almost 1000 miles into my new truck and so far I'm pretty happy with the commute fuel economy. I filled up yesterday and rest the meters as I typically do, drive to work this morning on country 2 land roads typically ranging from 35 to 50 mph. I'm seeing a typical average across a half tank (I refill at around half tank) around 16.5 to 17 mpg and just idling to work with almost no traffic at 0530 in close to 20 mpg. Not bad considering my previous 6.4L would be around 13 mpg doing the same, and my Wrangler 3.6 in 37" tires also got around 16.

Dealer placed the order for my 2022 on 6/1. Was told today by Ram customer service that the vehicle is in production and should be complete this coming week / should see it mid August. Can't wait. Hope this helps for anyone else in the waiting game
It won't be a 22,they start 22 production on July 26th

Some 22 changes,I heard there will be some slight grill changes also as well as Uconnect 5

When I ordered my limited 3500 the xh7 tow mode camera was added to my order but the XN1 was never added and the order is already placed. Does anyone know if I can order the XN1 360 camera system seperately and just plug it into the truck or will it use a special hookup that will only be installed if it was added with the original order? I want to add it to my 48’ race trailer.

edit; spoke with Sandi and she will put in a request to add it to my order but won’t know if it’s approved until production starts. Fingers crossed . Sandi is the best!

I’m the opposite. Got the trailer 360, didn’t have tow mode. Asked to have it added, but never heard back. Hoping there is an easy way to just have the option flashed by the dealer and just the camera/harnesses needed.

First portion of the news release. ZF Announces $200 Million Investment in North American Commercial Vehicle Transmission Manufacturing

  • ZF PowerLine 8-speed automatic transmission technology sets benchmark for medium-duty commercial vehicle trucks, buses and heavy-duty pickup trucks
  • With passenger car comfort, unparalleled commercial vehicle performance, advanced safety technology and double-digit fuel savings potential, ZF PowerLine sets a new standard for commercial vehicle powertrain experience
  • Multiple North American customers have signed multiyear contracts, U.S. production will begin in 2023
  • $200 million investment over the next three years in local production at ZF’s automatic transmissions facility in Gray Court, SC; addition of 500 U.S. jobs
So the most likely scenario looks like the 2024 Model year will have a new transmission?

I'm disappointed that no Allison this year but that's OK - the Aisin is plenty strong for now and the shift spacing is fine for towing heavy 5ths. But boy, rolling up to a stop sign (with or without a trailer) and then accelerating without a dead stop to 1st gear can be an "unforgiving" experience.

Reading the above, it doesn't look like trans next year either so I might pull the trigger on a '22 to cash in on the temp high trade-ins and pick up a few more options.

BTW, it seems like lots of different reporting about the Cummins HO spec for '22. Is it actually 420hp and 1,075 ft/lbs torque or still 400/1000 as printed occasionally??

FWIW, my salesman who is the fleet manager told me the 2023's will have the Allison behind the Cummins.

Trying to order a '22 3500 Limited with trailering options. My dealer just called and said that the POC won't let him add the XG9 (Trailer Tire Pressure Monitor) even though it's on my '20 and was available in '21.
I've seen some of your posted POCs and you have ordered just fine.

Anyone run into this? Did it get combined with Max Tow or Level1 on the Limited for '22?

* *Be interesting to know what customer took the first supply in 2021 as stated below* * ZF began production of the PowerLine 8-speed automatic transmission at its global headquarters in Friedrichshafen, Germany, at the end of 2020 and made its first supply to North American customers in 2021. In 2023, volume production will begin in the U.S. and will exclusively serve North American market demand.

I would bet it will be the new modular ZF.... and honestly I think that the ZF is the better option.

The salesman is clueless

Nothing till 2023 at the earliest

Can anyone suggest a dealer in the Ohio/Indiana/Kentucky area? I'm strongly thinking about placing an order with Mark Dodge - quoted me 11% under MSRP ($47,045), just would be awesome if I could find a dealer closer with similar pricing. Thanks in advance! Here's my desired build:

Looking at ordering a 2022 2500. So no 10 speed Allison? The HO engine is another $3,000 over the standard Cummins? Is it worth it?
Shipping time guess?
Is $500 off sticker and a $1,000 down the going thing?

Regarding HO engine, what are using the truck for? If your not towing anything big, I would say no. The 2500 payload capacity doesn’t need the HO imho. If you just want the king of the hill engine, then it’s worth it for bragging rights :)
