My cargo camera is just as clear as the backup.I have a 2019 3500 and the cargo camera just looks horrible, low resolution especially when compared to the backup camera, is it just my camera or did ram actually pick a terrible camera for one and not the other

I do plan on visiting the dealership if there is something wrong with my cargo cam, if it is how the camera was designed then it is not an issue just disappointingHi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.

Do you have the surround view camera system, or just backup camera and cargo camera? If you have backup camera and cargo camera only, then the rear camera is digital and the cargo camera is analog. If you have the surround view camera system, then all of the cameras are the exact same part number, and run through a video processing module.I have a 2019 3500 and the cargo camera just looks horrible, low resolution especially when compared to the backup camera, is it just my camera or did ram actually pick a terrible camera for one and not the other
Thanks for clarifying. I have the 360 and didn't realize there was a difference.Do you have the surround view camera system, or just backup camera and cargo camera? What he said. I wonder why the difference. Thanks for clarifying. I have the 360 and didn't realize there was a difference.

The radio modules have three possible analog inputs, and only one digital input. When the surround view system is used, all the cameras are run to a video processing module (CVPM), and the CVPM sends the images to the radio via it’s only digital camera input. Trucks without the surround system still use a digital rear view camera, but when the cargo camera is optioned, the only other inputs that are available are the analog inputs. What he said. Did you get in the bed and take a close look at the lense? The camera in the 3rd brake light has an extra lense over it, unlike the rest of the cameras in the truck that are directly exposed with no extra lense over them. I found my cargo camera seems less clear than the rest and when I took a closer look at it, it seems the inside of the outer lense isn't completely clean. I haven't had a chance to take it apart and clean it yet, but I bet that's where your problem lies.I have a 2019 3500 and the cargo camera just looks horrible, low resolution especially when compared to the backup camera, is it just my camera or did ram actually pick a terrible camera for one and not the other
Ahh, that explains it. Wouldn’t make sense to put the CVPM in just to gain one input. The radio modules have three possible analog inputs, and only one digital input. I couldn’t agree more Eljeffy. My cargo camera has HORRIBLE picture quality. I took it to a Ram Dealership and they replaced the camera.... it actually may look worse than the previous camera. Their reply, ‘well, we have other vehicles on the lot that have bad picture quality too.’I have a 2019 3500 and the cargo camera just looks horrible, low resolution especially when compared to the backup camera, is it just my camera or did ram actually pick a terrible camera for one and not the other

Dealer forgot to calibrate the cargo camera to the CVPM, also. That’s why the centerline is missing. All 5 exterior cameras are the same camera. The cargo camera sits behind a clear acrylic lens in the CHMSL, which may be dirty on the inside.I couldn’t agree more Eljeffy. My cargo camera has HORRIBLE picture quality. Mine is a 2020 Ram 3500, with 9k miles on it. The first picture is the zoomed in feature. The 2nd photo is regular view. That is framing in the background, you can’t even tell those are studs in the wall as there is no definition. I will take some more pictures as the other cameras have much better clarity than the cargo camera. It almost looks like someone put vasoline on the lens. Not happy about the dealerships response, I even have Ram Customer Assistance involved. They pretty much are going off what the dealership is telling them, and not offering any assistance.... not happy at all.Dealer forgot to calibrate the cargo camera to the CVPM, also. Ah, I see it zoomed, not even paying attention! I’d check the inside of the CHMSL lens. It is similar to the instrument cluster lens, so if it’s dirty or hazy, it will reflect what the camera is trying to look through. The cargo camera image should be as clear as the rest since they’re all the same cameras.Mine is a 2020 Ram 3500, with 9k miles on it. The first picture is the zoomed in feature. Thanks for the suggestions and the reply. It’s a brand spanking new cargo cam assembly, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t possibly be dusty.Ah, I see it zoomed, not even paying attention!
