2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

That would be incorrect from my recent observation. 2021 Laramie I drove had leather bolsters with a suede-like insert. It was a primary reason I stepped up to the Laramie. Obviously the suede-like insert may not be leather, but it certainly isn't cloth.
I guess we have terminology confusion here. Vinyl has a woven cloth backing, so I was calling anything that is not 100% real leather from a cow "cloth". This includes imitation leather that is often called "leather" by marketing folks. Sorry for creating the confusion. I realize my definition of cloth was confusing and overly broad.

It seems many people who own these trucks don't even realize their seats are not 100% real leather. That speaks well of the quality of materials used by Ram. These days they are making vinyl that looks more like leather than real leather does. They way leather breaks in and creases, you can tell over time from those creases if it's real leather. I know the 2019 and 2020 Laramie 2500's my next door neighbor has are definitely NOT real leather except for the suede, and both those trucks are loaded with most every option. The suede-like inserts are real leather as far as I can tell. That may be the only part that is real leather. FCA says the Laramie seats are "leather trimmed". That should tell you the rest of the seat is not real leather, no matter how realistic the imitation. Vinyl could be superior to leather in some applications and in many ways, including durability in some cases depending on the quality of the vinyl. Vinyl of course is waterproof, at least the outer layer, not the cloth backing. Leather wins in breath-ability and breaking in to conform to your butt. Then of course there is the smell of real cowhide. Maybe everyone should smell their Laramie seats if they think they are real leather. :-) If you don't notice a strong leather smell, it's not real leather, or maybe your sense of smell is not good.

Leather also dries out over time and can fade more than vinyl. It needs more maintenance than vinyl.

Further confusing the vinyl/leather issue (although not in this case) is bonded leather. This is ground up leather scraps glued to a cloth backing. Bonded leather usually peels after a few years and is not used in any cars I have seen, but is used extensively in "leather" furniture.

The world hates me.
I wanted a loaded Hydro blue Laramie with silver 2 tone and sport appearance. I'm told no can do.

So I said go Limited Longhorn in Delmonico red with a dark gray lower 2 tone... he calls me today and says no can do.

To go 2 toned you have to pick these dark and boring colors.

So should I drop back to the Laramie Sport in Hydro, or go Limited Longhorn in Delmonico? Both would get maxed out with packages... difference is one would be real leather and wood, the other fake leather (vinyl) and wood grained stickers....

I can't get night package on either one from what I understand. I can't get rambox on either one (dually).

This sucks. I'm trying to order my 50 year birthday dream/last truck and momma Ram is slapping my hands as I'm trying to get my toy.

I had a bit of the same dilemma, without the two-tone issue. I like the hydro blue, but I also like night edition and you can't order hydro with it. So....I went with the Patriot Blue, Night Edition, Limited (I personally don't like the Longhorn interior). Price a loaded Laramie vs the Longhorn or Limited, I found when I loaded a Laramie up it got really close to a Limited and I just figured I'd go for it. (The upper trims are a bit more expensive, but it wasn't so much that I went back to looking at a Laramie).

I just went to the ram build site and you can spec Delmonico (single tone) w/ Night Edition, if that helps.

Good luck! :)

Okay. So if I want a Hydro Blue, I can't have night... but I can have sport. I effing hate chrome.... chrome is for my grandfather. Nasty.

So if I jump to limited, I still can't do night and Hydro... but can I do Delmonico and night?

Is limited full on real leather?

What does a limited gain over a Laramie when you load them both and try to avoid chrome?

Maybe I'm going to have to just accept Laramie with Delmonico and night as the only way to get it done. 2 tone pretty much turned to vapor on me because of the lame color restrictions that would put me in a dark and dull truck. I want visually explosive.... a truck that when you see it, you remember it.

A Hydro sport night would be so kill it would rock the world. But the gods of Ram don't want me to have it.

Right, my bad, when I looked for you I was looking at Limited and not Longhorn; you're right in that you can't do night edition at all on the Longhorn, at least as far as the ram build site shows. Limited is full leather as well. Just not the Longhorn color/styling. If you're set on the Longhorn, your options might be a bit more limited (no pun intended).

Well, I started as Laramie sport off-road in Hydro and silver 2 tone. He couldn't make it happen.

So he said pick a Longhorn Limited color and we definitely can silver or gray 2 tone that. So I said okay, Delmonico red, offroad, night edition, gray 2 tone similar to my King Ranch. He says nope, can't do it.

So now I'm wondering if a regular limited (non Longhorn) can get me?

My Ford.... a dead sexy color mix.

projector headlamps, full leather, different grille (better IMO), 20" wheels, and a few other smaller things I think. Both are gonna need night edition to avoid chrome tho, I believe

You won't get any two tone in sport or night edition.

On the limited, you can get Maximum Steel Metallic Night edition, which would have been my pick if I went limited. Beautiful color and not common.

The 2022 color combos are the same as 2021, use the ramtrucks.com configurator to see what you can build. Then do a Google search to get an idea of what it really looks like. The colors on the site are really far off for some of them.

They can request it get added. There’s no guarantee, but don’t let them tell you they can’t at least ask.

We tried he put in the request they said no unfortunately… he said he can order me a new one and cancel this current one but I put in the order in beginning of may so i was it would be held up an Extra couple months. I was also told that I should be expecting truck in July he told me truck was half way build then gave me a d status so know the guy was full of it. Not happy with my dealer but it is what it is. I don’t even know when I would be expecting this truck to even come.

I am looking at basically identical trucks, 3500 loaded, one Limited Night Edition and the other Longhorn. Prefer the Longhorn interior but torn because I prefer the Limited exterior.

For what we are paying for these trucks I would want it to be exactly what I wanted. Where are you located?

How did you spec out the exterior? I am looking at white/walnut two-tone with walnut insert wheels.
