Can’t seem to get the trailer mileage odometer to work. Under the impression it actuated when plugging into trailer. What am I missing?

Mine also doesn’t seem to work in that manner

Did you go into settings on the radio, scroll down to towing or trailers (I forget if it says towing or if it says trailers in the menu, but it is real obvious) then build a profile for that trailer (you have 4 slots that you can store) and then select to activate it after the trailer was plugged in? If you did, it should track miles on that particular trailer. I have all 4 slots used with my 4 trailers and each one is tracked individually by selecting what trailer profile I am applying.

I've never been able to get mine to work. My trailer is setup and selected as active, ttpms is setup and works, but trailer trip does nothing.

Does anyone know if this system works if a trailer has a flat 4 pin trailer plug. One of my trailers has this type of plug, but I haven't towed it with this truck yet.

Boy... I don't know. I don't own and trailers under 3K without brakes so I've never been able to experience that. Maybe someone else has a smaller utility trailer and knows this answer?

Not sure what the truck uses to sense that it has a trailer connected. I suspect it is the trailer braking system.

You are right if it has no brakes its not detected… my trailer millage is hit and miss sometimes it works but not always

I don't have any 4 pinners, but it works no problemo with my trailers.

Works based on detecting trailer brakes so 4 pins will not add trailer mileage but the 7 pins will.

If you want it to work with a no brakes trailer you can fool the truck.
Trick your truck into thinking a trailer is in tow.
Use a blank 7 pin RV plug and wire a 12 ohm 8-10 watt resistor to the trailer brake and ground wire slots.
The Rear Park sensors will be disabled.
The Exhaust Brake will always be "On"
Sometimes when restarting a truck that has been off for a while the EB will be "off". Just push EB button to turn back "on"
The towing mileage can be reset to zero anytime.
