2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Yeah, I don't need a direct flight. Transfer to Lake Charles flight from Houston or Dallas. Hey, how does registration work for out of state sales? I just found this review about Mark Dodge online and it has me concerned:

"Purchased a vehicle from them on November 25 2020. Was..."

- John
Purchased a vehicle from them on November 25 2020. Was an out of state purchaser and they insisted they had to do the registration for me. I've bought out of state before and always did my own registration since I know the home state process. But they insisted they had to do it...collected 589 had me sign a paperwork stating they collected this amount toward my registration fee. 6 weeks went by and no plates. Called the dealership multiple times asking where my plates were. No reply. Finally got ahold of a lady that told me she finally sent the paperwork off on Jan 12 to the tag office and it's not her problem anymore its mine and hung up. Two more weeks and a lot of calls and I find out she filled out the paperwork wrong. Sent it to the wrong address and only sent in $300 dollars toward the registration fee and I had to pay the rest. Called the dealership and they told me that's all they collected from me is 300 hundred even though I have signed paperwork saying I paid 589 and it isn't there problem and nothing they can do.
I don't know about Mark Dodge or about the laws, but when we bought our Tesla Model S four years ago things were a bit different. They did the Texas reg, but we got a California temp tag. This was due to the fact that Texas dealers colluded with the state to prevent Tesla from selling directly (its an old law on the books here and the non-Tesla dealers fought against changing it). Getting our TX plates took so long that the Cali temps expired and they had to overnight another Cali temp. We were also pulled over at least once because the Texas officer didn't recognize the temp tag as being a temp tag (Tesla warned about this). Once he saw the docs he was just curious about the car.

I think that's a California & Texas thing. Prob not a thing anymore. Same here back in 2013ish, but opposite for me. Bought a car from CA and registered it in TX. Not sure how similar the situation is, but TX couldn't get the title from CA fast enough and it went over my 60day (I think) temp tag. Anyway, Sandi mentioned to me they handle all the TT&L. I'm registering mine in TX and between TX and LA there shouldn't be an issue. I was looking into buying from AZ. The issue there is, AZ requires you to pay AZ TT&L and gives you an AZ temp tag, but won't handle out of state registration. Not sure how that plays out with your state, but I never looked into it to find out how I would recoup my taxes back since AZ has higher sales tax than TX. Advice to everyone is to check with your local DMV or whatever your state calls it to make sure you aren't double taxed...don't think that will happen, but in any case if you buy from certain states and they require you to pay their taxes, you need to know how to recoup from your state.

They will meet you at the Houston airport with your truck and you can head home from there.
Ooooh, that would save me some time doing that. Not sure I want someone else putting the first 150mi driving it over. Would be nice if they trailered it.

I'd love to hear from people who actually ordered a truck from them and picked it up from out-of-state and got their home state registration documents handled properly. Think I'll wait on this until at least the end of the year. By then many of you will have already gone through the entire process with this dealer and hopefully will report back here with your experiences. Thanks for that. Maybe the chip shortage and high demand will have abated somewhat by then also.

Couple Qs for the group:

1) does anyone know yet if the “trailer surround view camera system” (XN1) comes with the cameras?

2) does the camera come included in the AVF package (tow mode digital rear view mirror) - the price of $945 is too steep just for the mirror but sounds reasonable if it includes the camera you would mount on the rear of your trailer.

3) the towing tech package is ~ $1000 but it duplicates everything in the Laramie Level A (A76) and only adds the surround view option. Is there a reduced charge for combining Level A (A76) and Tow Tech (ADK)? Seems like we’d be paying twice for quite a few components.

4) does the Tow Tech package (ADK) add the cargo camera in the CHMSL as part of the surround view feature, or do I need to add that seperately?

I just heard back from Dennis Dillon on a build with a $76k MSRP. Their offer was $71,900 with their financing (6% discount from MSRP) but I believe it would be $2k higher without their financing. Definitely above even the 1% below invoice that I think should be a minimum discount.

Don’t have #s from Bud Clary or Mark Dodge yet to compare.
Yes the AVF package comes with a wired camera. Also it looks like you can’t option both the XN1 and AVF packages. They look mutually exclusive. The open question is if you can get the XN1 rear camera to show up on the digital rear view mirror. I am thinking you won’t be able to but still needs to be confirmed. I am getting a large truck camper on mine so the digital rear view mirror AVF package seems the safe bet to be able to always see behind you. I think the XN1 is only shown on the Uconnect display and not full time.

Ok....for you guys/gals that ordered 2022's were you able to order the "Blind spot monitor/Cross path detection" on a BigHorn/Laramie trims? With what I can find as far as delays and chip shortages...is that Ram repackaged their Level 1 and 2 to a Level A and B. Both leaving out the Blind spot monitoring/Cross path detection. They seem to be keeping ALL available chips with the Longhorn and Limited models.

My question is can I still order a Big Horn/Laramie with Blind spot/cross path if I'm willing to wait longer for it? Can any buyers/dealers answer this question? Please see below link about the chip shortage and Ram trucks.

The dealer was able to add it, but I question if the truck will actually show up with it.

So AVF will include the 12 pin connector and truck side wiring? I can't find anything to confirm. Dealer told me AVF is included in Safety Group B but I'm not convinced, I thought it would be a unique option that would have to be added. Safety Group B does have the digital rear view mirror, but I don't think that means AVF.

Trailer surround view and tow mode digital rear view mirror are two completely different features that have zero relationship or similarities in function, and I see no reason or indication that you can’t be equipped with both.
you can’t get any camera from either surround view system (truck or trailer) to show in the digital rear view mirror screen, and you can’t get either camera for the digital rear view mirror to display on the radio display screen

The AVF option image I posted is for a Ram5500 and it is a separate option. I would think it’s the same for all HDs. My assumption is the the AVF option give you the specific tow mode feature for the digital rear view mirror and specifically has the wiring and camera to support this feature. I believe the safety group includes the digital rear view mirror but not the tow mode feature. It will use the CHMSL camera only.

As a data point, I couldn’t option the AVF option in dealer connect when XN1 option was specified for a 2022 Ram 5500 Limited. Hence my comment you couldn’t get both. Hopefully, someone can prove otherwise via dealer connect.

What gets me about the whole trailer WIRELESS camera that was advertised in January 2019......then in February 2019 when I ordered my 2019 3500 Laramie...is that it never showed up and was actually deleted (26 February 2019) about two weeks after my truck was locked in/scheduled to be built. .....that's was over two years ago and still no wireless camera. This is 2021 not 1950..... I want a wireless camera with its own internal power that will last 8-12 hours on a single charge. I want to be able to pull the camera off of one trailer and stick/magnet/ziptie/ velcro etc... it on the back of another trailer.....sync it with bluetooth and drive off......pull into another trailer yard pull that camera off the trailer I just parked....and stick it on the next trailer I need to pull and keep driving....I don't want to have to worry about any wiring for power or video signal etc... Am I asking for too much? This needs to be Ram's next new option for wireless trailer camera's.....with Ram's current plan....we would have to add wiring and cameras to every trailer we pull....many people have many trailers.....travel trailer, utility trailer's, cargo trailer's, RV's, 5th wheel....etc...

Get outa here with your 6 hours, hahaha. I’ve got to fly there and then spend 3 days driving home. Still worth it. Nobody gives deals like Sandi at mark dodge. I told her when I ordered to expect a lot more. I’m sure this forum has kept her quite busy. I don’t have my price yet, but she knows I’m patient and the price really doesn’t matter as much as then keeping the same pricing structure.
On the plus side I’ll have her ready to tow by the time I get home with the miles I gotta drive.
If anyone is a little closer to AZ, I hope they will consider reaching out to me. :-)
