2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

I am building a 2022 Ram 3500 with the non ho diesel engine. I am torn between a bighorn with the level b package or a laramie with the level b package. I have a 2016 3500 bighorn and love it but am considering the laramie for the heated rear seats and the power steps. If I go with the bighorn, it's hard for me to determine exactly what I am giving up. No leather, no heated rear seats, no factory fender flares. Has anyone else studied this to the point they could advise on what else I'd be giving up? Either way I will be adding the tow package B, the bed utility group, the 50 gallon tank, rubber mats, auxiliary switches, skid plate and engine heater. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Thank you
Main differences that I'm aware of:
  • No ventilated front seats
  • No leather, but I'm still determining myself if the "leather" in the Laramie is better than the premium cloth in the Big Horn. The stories about the leather delaminating concerns me.
  • No ambient lighting (footwells, under rear seat)
  • No fender flares
  • No touchless tailgate release (but you can add by just buying the 5 button fob and having it programmed to a Big Horn)
  • No option for HK audio package
  • No option for rear heated seats
  • No option for power steps
  • Various surfaces have cloth instead of leather
  • Memory pedals/mirrors
  • Proximity Entry
  • Interior LED lighting

Another diff is the lighting (exterior) with LEDs and Fogs that light up while turning, etc.

I agree.

Once spec'd out the price of a loaded Big Horn will be the same as a Laramie. Heck, if you're gonna spend that and add all the packages, you might as well go for the Limited Longhorn. You get everything pretty much standard plus more. Unless you need 6 pax seating...

Couple Qs for the group:

1) does anyone know yet if the “trailer surround view camera system” (XN1) comes with the cameras?

2) does the camera come included in the AVF package (tow mode digital rear view mirror) - the price of $945 is too steep just for the mirror but sounds reasonable if it includes the camera you would mount on the rear of your trailer.

3) the towing tech package is ~ $1000 but it duplicates everything in the Laramie Level A (A76) and only adds the surround view option. Is there a reduced charge for combining Level A (A76) and Tow Tech (ADK)? Seems like we’d be paying twice for quite a few components.

4) does the Tow Tech package (ADK) add the cargo camera in the CHMSL as part of the surround view feature, or do I need to add that seperately?

I just heard back from Dennis Dillon on a build with a $76k MSRP. Their offer was $71,900 with their financing (6% discount from MSRP) but I believe it would be $2k higher without their financing. Definitely above even the 1% below invoice that I think should be a minimum discount.

Don’t have #s from Bud Clary or Mark Dodge yet to compare.

Laramie doesn't have the directional lighting, that's a feature on the Limited trim. You do get LED reflection headlights standard on the Laramie though, and it's an option on the BH.

Thanks I remember the LED option on the BH now (maybe $350?), but as to the directional… not the headlights, but the fogs. They turn on during turns at slow speed or with blinker on and I couldn’t find if that was an option for BH (standard in Laramie).

I found myself in a similar situation with a Laramie vs Limited. So many options on a Laramie are standard on a Limited, the pricing came out very close (surprisingly, honestly). Reportedly better leather and the other pluses tipped me to a Limited. It was still a bit more, but not by much.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. I believe so
4. Pretty sure

Dennis Dillon didn’t to deal when I talked to them and Bud clary was like 500 over invoice. I would have loved to do a deal at Dennis Dillon. Much shorter drive, but Sandi at mark dodge destroyed everyone and she was great to work with.

Just read this entire thread. Lots of great information. Thanks. I'm about to order a 2500 diesel Longhorn. Looks like there are 27 dealers in my state (Colorado). Can anyone here save me lots of time and tell me which Colorado dealers I should check with first? Who might order this truck for me at invoice or below? I checked with a handful already and best I could find is $1000 over invoice and the salesman was short and not very responsive, plus I read bad reviews on that dealership. Another dealer (in Colorado Springs) told me they are not interested in ordering a truck for me at invoice. I'll go through all 27 dealers if I have to, but any tips on who I might get the best deal from is greatly appreciated. Also appreciate any advice on who to avoid. Don't want to fly to Louisiana if I don't have to. With this many dealers you'd think ONE might offer a good deal. THANKS!

From what I have seen and dealt with myself, you will be hard pressed to find someone to beat mark dodge. Sounds like Dennis Dillon has started dealing. Have you checked with Berthod dodge in glenwood springs? Best I got from there was invoice and that was from an old friend that works there.

Yep. So much to it, styling, standard bed liner, running boards, heated & cooled seats and on and on. I do wish it would come with 6 pax seating. Not just for the extra jump seat, but for the knee room. My Big Horn had the buckets and even though it's a roomy truck and I really utilized all the center storage, on long trips the right side of my knee would have enjoyed some extra room. Got 6 pax seating on my latest. It's a give and take I guess. Struggling to decide to either go with a Longhorn DRW or the 3500 Chassis Cab. Both I can get from Mark Dodge at a great price. Just up to me to decide now.

Welp, just put my order in. Will be Monday before it gets put in. I had to get everything sealed today because I’m heading out of country for work, tomorrow. 2022 2500 Limited MegaCab w/ Hemi. MSRP: $76,330 Sale Price: $67,323. Ya not gonna beat Mark Dodge.

Could always order from Mark Dodge and just pay to have it transported. Would probably be around 1k or so.

Think I'll just order from Mark Dodge and fly out there. Since they offer free delivery within 250 miles, you'd think they could pick me up at the Lake Charles airport...
I'm Interested to hear from anyone who has flown in and picked up a truck from Mark Dodge that they ordered there in the past. How was the entire experience?

They do offer pick up at the airport. I also heard someone say that they can meet you at the Houston airport. I don't know if that means you fly into Houston and they meet you there with the truck, or if they will drive you back to the dealership. No direct flights into Lake Charles that I've seen

Yeah, I don't need a direct flight. Transfer to Lake Charles flight from Houston or Dallas. Hey, how does registration work for out of state sales? I just found this review about Mark Dodge online and it has me concerned:
January 29, 2021

"Purchased a vehicle from them on November 25 2020. Was..."

- John
Purchased a vehicle from them on November 25 2020. Was an out of state purchaser and they insisted they had to do the registration for me. I've bought out of state before and always did my own registration since I know the home state process. But they insisted they had to do it...collected 589 had me sign a paperwork stating they collected this amount toward my registration fee. 6 weeks went by and no plates. Called the dealership multiple times asking where my plates were. No reply. Finally got ahold of a lady that told me she finally sent the paperwork off on Jan 12 to the tag office and it's not her problem anymore its mine and hung up. Two more weeks and a lot of calls and I find out she filled out the paperwork wrong. Sent it to the wrong address and only sent in $300 dollars toward the registration fee and I had to pay the rest. Called the dealership and they told me that's all they collected from me is 300 hundred even though I have signed paperwork saying I paid 589 and it isn't there problem and nothing they can do.

They told me they’ll handle the Arizona registration when it comes times. Someone just picked up a ‘21 and said everything from the zoom walk thru/signing to the shipping was easy-peasy.

If Houston is direct flight for you, you could rent a car at the Houston airport and drive one-way to Lake Charles airport to have them pick up you there. It's about a 2-1/2 hr drive. New Orleans airport to Lake Charles is about 2-3/4 hrs. Mark Dodge is only about 8 miles from the Lake Charles airport. If I order a truck from them, I will get a one way rental from TX to Lake Charles airport and have them pick me up from there.
