Remote Tailgate Release

I have a 2021 Ram 3500 Bighorn and was wondering if anyone has added the remote tailgate release to either a button in the cab of the truck or the remote or both. Would be very helpful when backing up to my 5th wheel camper and not having to get out and open it manually.
 
You just have to buy the new key fobs to get that to work. I have yet to see anyone add the button inside though.
 
I'm very far away from my truck but I'm very positive I have a button inside on the oversead console to open the tailgate. Mine is a LTD though.
So there must be a way to do it.

Yeah you have the button, the lower trims don't and it's co fusing trying to find that darn switch/console. Especially without all the extras you have on yours that would be dead buttons to us.
 
I bought a new fob with the tailgate release from another member on this forum. I had it programmed at a local locksmith and it works great.
 
Wait…so all you have to do to gain that functionality is buy the key fob that has the button? I’m in a 2021 Laramie 2500. Without remote tailgate release.

Yep! Mine is a Lone Star (Big Horn), and it worked as soon as the fob was programmed to my truck.

You already have it. All trim levels above the Big Horn /Lonestar come equipped with it from the factory.
 
My 2021 3500 Laramie has tailgate release on the key fob. It also has a button on the inside above the rear view mirror if I remember correctly. Used it once to test it. Now I just use the key fob.

Can you post a picture of the inside button if you do not have the rear sliding window?
 
Is there a benefit to having a remote release on my tailgate?? Scratching my head here...

Just convenience, I can open it while walking up to the truck if I want. The biggest convenience is for hooking on to the fifth wheel though. I can still have my back up camera and drop the tailgate at the last second.

Just like anything else, it's a matter of opinion

I think it can be more trouble than they are worth due to possibility of unintentional release.
