What did you do TO your RAM today?

Have only done the damage to the credit card, but I ordered a Softopper today. Back ordered till early July. Kicking myself for not ordering one earlier, when they were backordered till May. Figured they'd get enough **** in to catch up. In retrospect, that was a silly thought.

Same same here. I started ordering a bunch of stuff a few weeks ago knowing back orders would be an issue, but this one is still longer than expected when I was deciding on it.

Have an ARB compressor on back order too.

AVS bug deflector. Not super crazy about the fit but like the look. It's like a nice 'stache.

They sure are. They were all replaced with longer plastic fasteners.

After owning a Softopper since November I would not get one again. I wish I had just spent the money on a real topper. While the softopper has some advantages for me the cons outweigh the pros.

Care to go into detail about those pros vs cons?

The cost is literally the only thing not relevant to why I'm purchasing one.

Interesting. I could see it. I got one as a temporary measure until our Super Pacific is built.

zero security, I know anything can be broken into but these provide zero security. they unvelcro and unsnap very easily or the stupid thief just cuts them open. they allow an incredible amount of dust in, I took mine to Moab and it was unbelievable how dusty everything got. Every time you had to open the rear flap you got covered in dust as no way to really do it with out either getting covered in dust if dusty or wet if raining, unlike a hard top that the door can easily lift and not have those issues and also protects you from the rain while getting into the back of the truck. I replaced the rear vinyl panel as the window scratches just looking at it. it is like a jeep soft top vinyl window and they scratch no matter how careful you are. I have the solid panel which I would recommend if you did not order it. We had one stolen a few months ago at the university. Kid comes out and his softopper is gone. My buddy is an officer on campus and he told me about it. They would be easy to steal as they weigh 20lbs and fold up. literally a 9/16" wrench is all you need to remove the frame and no tools the canvas. The sides suck in like a starving horse when cruising down the highway at 70 mph. I will say as long as you seal the seams with the sealant they provide they are pretty water tight but water still soaks in where the buckle straps are sewn on.

I carry an arb fridge and camping gear and every time I go in some place I worry about it. The other day I had to run into Walmart and I came out and there was a beater car parked next to and some dirt bag was standing at the back of my truck and when the drive saw me he got in the car and they drove away. I have no doubt he was going to unsnap it as the snaps are clearly visible. Sure a hard topper you could pry the rear door open or break a window but still it is going to be more work than simply popping a snap or velcro.

I definitely understand the security issues, though that isn't a flaw in the product per se. The dust is a bit of a concern, however, since I live in UT and most of my off-roading is done on dusty ass roads.

My reason for wanting one, is I don't want a cap/topper 90% of the time because I hate the way they look. I also want to be able to use my truck bed to do truck things. However, when I go duck hunting, I don't want my dog & kennel out in the open on the highway. Or, for camping trips and ****, it's a lot easier to carry all my gear without having to worry about tying it all down. Plus, it'll be nice to pop it up when I drive to hockey games, or whatever, and get caught in some kind of inclement weather.

I do think if you're using the bed as storage all the time, it's probably a poor choice; especially if you live in an area with a higher property crime rate. But I also can't think of any other option, when one really only needs a cap occasionally.

yes the best thing about it is it only takes 10 minutes and it is hanging on the garage wall. If you are on a lot of dusty roads I would recommend getting the solid rear panel as well. I also ended up buying another set of clamps because with just the two per side that the send the rail did not want to lay flat as there is a lot of tension on it as the canvas is tight.

I’ve got a Fas-Top soft topper/tonneau cover sitting in my garage waiting for mine. I like the hard shell but want to be able to use my bed when I want too. With this one I can have a tonneau cover for normal day to day then roll it up and put up the soft topper when I need.

What'd that run you?

Mine was $1305 with a few accessories I added like a black out rear window attachment, a cargo bag, and some hooks for the sides to roll up. But they have a 20% off sale right now and I was able to get 15% more for military.
