2022 Power Wagon Diesel - unconfirmed rumor

Got details of Power Wagon Level 3 from dealer. Basically 75th Anniversary Edition minus some items.

Aux Reverse Lamps, Mirror-mounted (LPF)
Rain Sensitive Windshield Wipers (JHC)
Power Adjustable Pedals w/Memory (XAM)
Power 2-Way Passenger Lumbar Adjust (JRP)
did they share any insight when ordering would be possible?

Looks like the key things missing from the package are rock sliders, bead-lock wheels and the bi-function LED headlights

looking to order a 2022 PW, reached out to a dealer last week and they had no idea on timing

Agreed, those things, plus the mountain brown leather are the missing things I could find. He said those items appear to be options that could be added back in. He told me the only interior color shown was black leather. I didn't get an idea on timing for order. Seems to be a mixed bag. I've talked to a few dealers who say 2022 ordering is open. Others have told me they have no info. I'm actually thinking about placing an order for a 2022, because I didn't want the rock rails and bead lock wheels anyway. (They take away 150 pounds from payload.) If I can add back the headlights as an option and get UConnect 5, that could sway me.

on the same page, only thing I would want to add back are the headlights, need to use different side steps (vertically challenged spouse). can't wait to put the order in

Ha! Vertically challenged mother in law who comes on some trips here. My original plan was to get L2 and add AMP power steps, but I really wanted those rotating headlights (I have them on my GTI and they are nice), the full center console, and monotone paint, so I got a 75A. Put the order in less than a week before books closed. Confirmed through that options sheet from the dealer that UConnect 5 will be included. That Android operating system, TomTom, over the air updates, and wireless CarPlay are huge. You’re getting into a whole new platform instead of the last year of an end of life platform. Won’t need a dealer visit to get updates.

If they won’t let me change, given trade-in rates, I might just take delivery and order a ‘22 elsewhere and trade the ‘21 in once it arrives. KBB values show a ‘20 L2 has a higher trade value than what I’m paying new for the 75A. It’s crazy.

Sometimes I wonder if people understand the laws of physics. Putting the Cummins into the PW would increase the weight by about a thousand pounds. This would necessitate a stiffer suspension which then makes the PW no longer a PW. Ford puts a diesel in trucks with the tremor package if you want it. Go drive a Ford Tremor diesel off road and compare to the PW. The ride in the Tremor knocks your teeth out. If you want a Cummins just buy a regular 2500 CC with it and add the off road package. Thats as close to a diesel PW you are going to get. The PW is a specialty vehicle. IMHO it is the best HD off road truck in production.

But the tremor is a apples to oranges comparison with the PW.

And like you said, the weight of the diesel and the suspension of the PW is not a good marriage. RAM even stated that was the reason one is not offered. The suspension of the PW cannot handle the weight.

And that's the reason I bought a PW instead of a Tremor, or even the TRX. The PW is the most capable affordable off road truck on the market.

Help us out with a Better option?

Sarcasm im guessing? Lots of choices are "more capable" off road. Tons of them in the "off road" segment are more efficient. Plenty of them are more nimble with more impressive approach and depart angles. There are offerings that come with better OEM tires, better shocks, softer suspension, more horsepower and/or torque.

Zr2 Colorado, Just about any Jeep offering, Raptor, TRD Pro Tacoma, diesel Rubicon Gladiator, TRX (Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, yummy).

The PW is a compromise. For serious off road duty, it is too large and cumbersome. You of all people know this.

None of this is to say it's not an awesome truck... it is an awesome truck. But the comment was made it's the "best" and "most capable" off road truck. LOL at that.

The Raptor is only good for high speed open desert stuff. And it's not all that good at it, its just the only one out there, until RAM built the TRX, which has a better suspension for high speed desert.. Doing anything else real off road, it's not that good.
ZR2, are you serious?
The gladiator truck is OK, but not where it should be being its a Jeep.

TRD Tacoma is a light duty truck, not a HD. But it is a good truck.

None of the above are HD trucks.

Stock for stock, none of them come equipped like the PW does. You either have to order extra options, or buy aftermarket.

Well, he did say HD truck.

Well, he did say HD truck.

One of them did, fair enough ill concede that.

Oh, and a jeep is not a truck.

A Gladiator Rubi or Mojave would make a PW look silly on about any trail, anywhere.

And it's a truck.

Hadn’t thought to compare a Tacoma and a JLU to a Power Wagon. I think you’re the only one in that camp.

Really? Care to compare PW sales to TRD Tacoma or JLU?

If you think they arent cross shopped you are absolutely mistaken.

And the ZR2 is a bad bitch any way you slice it. You should drive one.

As stated, none of them are HD trucks.

That aside, which of those you mentioned come from the factory as standard equipment with front and rear locking diffs, winch, electric disconnect swaybars.

And which of those come with tires that are better than the goodyear wrangler duratracks that come stock on the PW?
I think most of them come with the same goodyear tires.

You act like this in nearly every thread I see you reply in.

I bet you’re real fun at parties…
That’s why god gave us the ignore feature. Lol.

Honestly tho, I have no issue with him. I just don’t want to argue about 4x4s because I own and love many makes and models and the argument can go for eternity

Yep. I currently own a 1500 Chevy 4X4 and F250 4X4 and recently sold my '73 K5 Blazer that I had a total of $15K in and would put the Raptor to shame in the high speed desert.

And now I'm getting a 75th PW.

Been part of a top tier Trophy Truck team racing in Baja and and Nevada and recently racing King of the Hammers.
