So this was interesting… tried to order a 2021 Power Wagon 75th Anniversary today and the salesman tried to plug in the order and couldn’t. His GM told him they’re no longer taking 2021 orders, only 2022. But they can’t place a 2022 order yet.

Here’s the interesting thing. Supposedly his system had a “Power Wagon Level 3” group that includes a diesel.

[mod: Unless confirmed otherwise, this is false info]

Probably not news to many here, but I’ve been debating between a Power Wagon 75AE and a 2500 Limited Cummins Crew Cab. If true, this will be amazing!

Diesel was an interior color. If it included the engine it should say Cummins.

Or...there is a diesel coming.

Anxious to hear

Interesting. They say the diesel was not available because the motor was too heavy for the softer suspension they put in the Power Wagon, which gives it it's good off road manners.
Me, I'd rather have the better offroad manners.

LOL at stupid salesman. RIF

"Diesel Gray."

Welcome to how Internet rumors get started.

Probably true. Here’s what he said:

“…but it’s just a new model year truck and you can also get the power wagon in a diesel now.”

I guess that could interpreted as “…in a diesel [gray color] now” or “…in a diesel [motor] now.”

Ok, talked with another dealer today. He seemed to know just as little as the first dealer, but I asked him to pull up the system and build a 2022 Power Wagon, and when he did, he saw the “Level 3” package but no mention of a diesel, and no option for a Cummins at the beginning, either. So I’m assuming the first guy was mistaken or saw the “diesel color interior”

I'd rather have the offroad manners AND a diesel. I'd actually be excited if they stuffed a 3.0 EcoDiesel in there. I don't tow heavy but that little 3.0 would give it awesone low end torque (still more than the big HEMI) and MPGs and won't sacriface the payload with this option. Doesn't need to be a speed demon just a work horse. Would have bought this instead of the 3500HO.

I have a buddy who bought the GMC Canyon with the little duramax and off-road package, I would not mind having that in addition to my HD Ram.

Hmm....as I stated above. And @brutal confirmed. Interior color. It is rough knowing a rumor before you see it.

I'll say this,

There's no conceivable way that an outfit like TFL Truck with insiders and paid spies wouldn't know about this before some rando sales knob at a dealer.

Diesel PW is one of those things car guys say they want because of how cool it would be but when it comes down to it, like 5 people buy it and the company loses money.

Also, like I always say on these threads, an 850ft/lbs torque @ 1,600 RPM diesel up against a rock at full lock will turn a front factory locker into whipped butter. AEVs very limited customer base, being of likely more driver skill off the bat, and considering the money turnover they do, can take their chances on that. Stelantis won't.

Well, the TRX has a lot of power and they put that in a 4x4 truck.

No one has confirmed, but I will bet you that it's not a true 4x4 system with a gear driven transfer case. It uses a clutch system and this is because of it's 4 auto transfer case. FCA uses a clutch pack for that system in all their cars. If that wasn't the case I'd have a TRX right now. I'm sure it's beefed up on the TRX over their other transfer cases, but they can overheat and kick you to 2wd mode. Not something I want while off-roading. This happened to me multiple times in my 5th gen 1500 "4x4" with the 4auto TC.

I've found that the more money spent on a vehicle the less driver skill the owner has. Generally speaking. :D

It's a full time 4X4. No 2WD option. No selector for it.

No such thing as full time 4x4. It's a 4 auto system (AWD) and I bet the TC will disconnect the front and go to 2wd mode if the clutch pack overheats. I'd love someone to actually take a TRX on a serious off-road trail going and test this.

This is where the Raptor wins out. It has both a gear and clutch driven TC and switches between the two depending on if you're in 4auto or 4hi/4lo.

I don’t think you guys can have your cake and eat it, too. Power wagon payload isn’t conducive to the Cummins and there is no need for the extra weight.

I think the 6.4L truck motor should get the 470/470 treatment that the 392 wrangler gets and call it done. Oh and larger gas tank.
