One regret I have after ordering my '21 3500 is not opting for cab over lights. Not a real big deal, but I DO like the way they look.
Has anyone installed aftermarket cab overs like those offered by Cab Over America? (not a commercial, just the only manufacturer I've seen)
I am hesitant to start sticking things onto my new truck with double sided tape, but interested to hear others experience.

I don’t think any of them end up working well. Read some horror stories for sure. This is one of those things that if you didn’t get it from the factory then forget about it and move on with your life.

There is a huge thread on this forum about the cab lights. You will get your answer there for sure.

Don't all 3500's come with them from the factory?

Yeah, mine is a SRW. They were a cheap option at time of placing order that I chose not to do. Thanks Rockcrawlerdude. Good advise.

If you go with aftermarket or OEM lights, I would have a very reputable body shop install them. Hopefully you can avoid leaks that way.

Like mentioned above, if your truck doesn't have these... learn to live without them and move on. Having worked in a body shop for years.. don't have these added. You are asking for issues that will make your life miserable if you experience them.

I installed the mopar roof lights on my 2016 Ram 1500. Actually it's very easy to do. The only problem was the first hole in the roof. Took me couple of beers to break myself to start drilling. Lights came with a template on where to drill. No leaks and they worked flawlessly until I traded my truck.

I added them to my 2016 when I first bought it and have had no issues after almost 5 years. With the OEM kit it's pretty easy as they give you a drill template. With that said, it is a lot more difficult to add the "new" style LED cab lights as they have square mounting holes and it is not sold as a kit for install after the fact. You are pretty much stuck with the older style unless you are feeling real adventurous.

Maybe you could use a dremel tool to cut the square holes. Or buy a sheet metal square hole punch (but I assume this one will be expensive)

Absolutely can be done, it's just a lot more challenging then just a couple of round holes. Somewhere there is a big thread on this and I think 1 person was going to try but not sure they ever followed trough or not?

I forgot to say with the dremel method your roof liner might get caught on fire .

JustDiesels did a review on them here:

I haven't seen any long-term feed back or weather-related feedback though. He's out in Cali so not as extreme weather if you get winters.
