AlfaOBD

Just make sure you save the settings to Google Drive if Android (or windows PC) before you make any changes.
Thanks, will do. And one more question, should I choosing MY 2020 or MY 2013-2018? Seems like every one I see doing it is connecting to 2013-2018 even for newer trucks.

Just choose 2020. It’s going to automatically connect to whatever BCM it thinks it is anyway.

I've been searching around these programming threads and had a question that needs a little confirmation.

I want to enable the window autodown and autofold mirrors option - really sucks that Ram didn't think of this - so I am looking at the Tazer.

I also want to enable the front trail camera, fog light drop out, etc. so I'll be getting AlphaOBD (probably the Windows ver if that matters).

My question is on the security bypass cable. Tazer has one that is an add on to their module, but I see so much about the KAOdTech being the one for Alpha.

Do I need one or the other or both? If one, which is the better one?

Thanks, Erik

I don't have the TaZer, but from what I've seen, you have to leave it plugged in all the time in order for the Live functions to work. Considering that, I'd go with their cable, as it is also a splitter leaving you an open OBD port should you need it for anything else.

Thanks for the info. I noticed on the Tazer site, that they can also make the settings changes that I am looking for. Do I need AlphaOBD?

If the TaZer does everything you want, then it doesn't sound like it.

And since it is just a download away, you can always buy it later if you decide you need/want it.

So, having a little buyer's remorse on the Tazer. It's the only way to get the autofold option on the mirrors (which the bump on my forehead from hitting the mirror trying to get past it in tight quarters, is sorely missing. NPI), but to get the trail camera and gear indicator on the IC, Tazer is saying "Not a feature" and isn't responsive on adding them to their upcoming features.

I am now ordering the AlphaOBD and have two questions -

First, to save a few bucks, can I use the OBDLink EX instead of the MX+? Don't care about USB since I'll be using my Windows laptop for configurations.

Second, with 1.x options of making config changes is there any advantage to using the Tazer for things like the fog light drop out? The marry / unmarry option seems beneficial, but I am assuming I would have to restore the factory defaults twice if I take it to the dealer.

Thanks, Erik

Yes, the OBDLink EX works good with AlfaOBD.
I would just use AlfaOBD to make all of the configuration changes. The interfacing feature of the tazer, and marrying/unmarrying is very cumbersome. Just use the tazer for the live features.

Did you ever get the global window up down to work with Tazer? I have several issues with mine not letting nav in motion or window roll up and down from keyfob.

I ended up not attempting the install and returned it yesterday. It boiled down to the cost to get some features that weren't what I expected. Now that you mention it, the nav in motion would be a nice to have, but I still am having a hard time seeing the value of the Tazer given the flaky experiences and cost.

You can get the NAV in Motion with the NAViKS box if you also want cameras in motion.

There’s new updates for both versions. If somebody has a 2019-2020 with the windows version, and wants to see if trailer light check will work, connect and switch to MY2021 and try these settings:
VehConfig 8: Trailer Light Check Cycle Present- YES
CBC Config I/O: Trailer light check cycles- 31

Can you explain what the "trailer light check" is?

It is a new feature on the 2021s. It is a setting in the trailer menu of the EVIC (instrument cluster) that will start an automatic sequence of cycling on each light while you walk around your trailer checking to see if they all work.

I will try to check this today.

Jimmy, I see MY22 is also in there.

I've never been able to find or locate any sort of release change log. Do you know or have a list from Alex what changes were made?

On the app in google play store, he lists the changes. Mainly, adding BCM model years, bug fixes, and the ability to pull the PIN from the RF Hub (which is now working, on my 2017 at least).
