I am going to ask a possibly dumb question. I just received my 2021 laramie 3500 dually and I can't find the homelink garage door opener anywhere. My build sheet shows it under standard equipment as "universal garage door opener" and I have looked on my visor and every where else. I am thinking they forgot to put it on. any help would be appreciated.

My 2021 Laramie has it right on the driver side visor, must have not gotten added on yours 2A0D94BF-B938-461A-BD45-C557623DC8A3.jpeg

I went into the dealer Wednesday and they took pictures and I told them it was on my build sheet as standard equipment.
He called me yesterday and said it was overlooked at the factory and that they are ordering a new visor so should be fixed soon.

Here's an interesting question. Is it me or does the garage door opener still work, even with the power off, fob no where near the vehicle?

With our Audi, the opener won't work unless the ignition is on. I even found that just grabbing the door handle without the key starts the splash screen on the consoles and it's telling you to apply the brake and press start.

It has me thinking to clear the homelink because someone can break into my car in the driveway and open the garage. They even get invited into the car by just trying the handle.

I'm probably just being paranoid, but it's a bit surprising so if anyone has tricks to tighten this down, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, Erik

Yes it does work without the ignition in the accessory or run position. Not aware of a way to defeat that feature.

I assumed it had to be on or at least sense the key fob in the truck. I haven't tested it without the key fob in the truck, but if this is the case then I will erase my remote. Heck, half the time it won't open my garage until the 3rd press anyway.

Would someone have a wiring diagram for where this gets it's power from? I am thinking I could move it from battery direct to an ignition tied power source.

Thanks, Erik

Every homelink I've ever had worked with the vehicle off and no keys. Same as a garage door opener.

The only time I have ever heard of it being hooked to accessory power was on a convertible.

Ah, that's our A5 cabriolet. Is there a source for wiring diagrams so I can try to move it or am I SOL?

I am also looking for a service manual or diagram to understand how to remove the lower grille so I can install a lightbar between the tow hooks.

This is the only vehicle we have had that works with the key out of the car. Our Range Rover was not a convertible and it didn't work without the key in the car. I don't remember if our Mercedes did but they were convertibles. From what I have read, most European cars don't. Most US and Japanese cars do I guess. I know some Toyotas are tied into the interior light circuit so if the dome lights are on the door opener works. Once they go off it doesn't work. Trouble is opening the door turns on the dome lights. I would like to move my Homelink over to an ignition sourced power lead. The homelink should still keep its memory if powered off.

Depends on your level of DIYness. I installed my sidejack. You can definitely buy a homelink enabled opener. There were even some specials for Prime Day.

I was thinking the same or wiring it to one of the AUX switches and program it to be on with ignition power only

It can if the connector is in the headliner. I don't believe anyone without that option has pulled the headliner down to confirm.

Can you post that visor part number when they replace it if you don't mind
