Are the Transforce AT tires THAT bad?

I read the posts about people getting stuck or spinning out on wet pavement and them not being true off road tires, but are they that bad for just mostly highway use?

The Transfarce A/T are mediocre tires. They have their place (rolling the truck off the assembly line :) )
Joking aside, our 2014 shop plow truck has run them, they lasted about 30k. Not great, not too bad.
I on the other hand sold my Transforce tires with 50 miles on them

When we picked up our truck from the dealer it had snowed earlier in the day. Now the roads had been plowed just not down to pavement in some places. Those tire were slipping and sliding all over the place. Within the week I replaced them with a set of Continental TerrainContact AT's and have driven securely ever since. To me this is a safely issue. Why Ram continues to put such crappy tires on such an expensive truck is a question I would love for them to answer.

Every brand does that

They are mediocre OEM tires and are 'ok'.
I've had zero issues towing, or on the road, in the heavy rain (I live in Flori-duh) and on light back roads... I only got stuck one in some sugar sand.
I have no plans at the moment to change them out... once they wear out, I'll find something else.

Honestly, if you don't like them, just replace them... I think most try to rationalize getting rid of them for other tires.

I tried to keep em but at 9500km the backs were 1/2 bald from towing

Yes. Terrible junk. I spin all over my property while doing tasks at low speeed (lots of dirt). Took them to the snow once and had to put it in 4WD just to traverse a plowed parking lot. Backing out of my driveway it transitions from concrete to dirt up a very light incline. If I leave it in R and don't even touch the accelerator the truck will back to a point and start hopping on it's own as they fight for traction in something a Unicycle wouldn't have trouble with.

I hate them. Not going to wait for them to wear. As soon as I can get some other tasks out of the way they are gone.

Let me add that they look stupid too. White letters out? Really? What is this? The 80's with some BFGs on a Trans-Am? It's not even done well either. It's like a dude took a paint can and just held the trigger while swipeing. Overspray all over the tires. Broadcasting loudly to the world that your $70k truck is riding on the worst pieces of trash since bias-plys.

I have a buddy with a 2019 F250 who swears by them. He pulled his stock tires off (not sure what they were) and put the transforce Firestones on them.

I don’t mind the factory shipping them with cheap tires. That way I can buy the tires I actually want without paying more for the truck up front. Same reason I’m glad glocks come with crappy plastic sights.

The guy who bought mine for $550 seemed to be happy. They only had 595 miles on them.

When my truck was parked at the dealer, they had it on some grass instead of on the paved lot. Though it was December, the ground was not entirely frozen yet. It 2wd it struggled to get through that grass, spraying mud behind it like crazy. I took off those factory transforce tires asap, and was able to sell them for $600 with only 200 miles on them.

Likely they had it up to 80+ psi...

So typically I would dump the stock tires as soon as I could, but with this truck I decided to wear the tires down a bit before doing so. Just got back from a 10 day trip towing our 7,000lb trailer, on day two we pulled into a spot in the Eastern Sierra and these tires spun like crazy a few times on different types of terrain. Wife says "these things are outta here, find new tires!". Never heard that one before! Trying to figure out which tires as we speak, need a decent A/T that tows well. Decisions.

Shoot. If the wife says you need new tires then they must be really bad!

I hadn’t had any issues but I also haven’t left the pavement lol. Hearing nothing but bad things
