How do you transport your dogs

We are just beginning our time camping with a pull behind trailer. I am curious how you transport your pups. I have a family of 5 in a mega cab and a growing German Shepard. Right now, she lays on the floor board in the back but I know this isn't going to be forever once she get bigger. I can also do without the hair. I am thinking of a Gunner Kennel and a Snugtop Truck cap....

Just curious what others do. I looked and couldn't find a post about this so if this is a repeat question, I apologize.

It doesn't solve your dilemma, but since you asked, mine get belted into the backseat with their harnesses and belt clips.

But I have taken one trip with a pup in the back (had 3 dogs and 3 humans in the cab, so the 4 month old puppy got to ride first class in a kennel under the topper). It was temporary, so I just strapped her kennel down with a couple of ratchet straps on the driver's side, furthest from the exhaust.

I have a 106LB German Shepard and I do not take him on trips....to big and to much hair for my Mega Cab and its just the wife and I ...he stays with family when we go on trips. Honestly if you are someone who does a lot of trips per year in the travel trailer and or are a full time RV person... German Shepards can be one of the breeds RV Parks refuse based on breed and size. Now if you do a lot of dry camping its probably not an issue -

I too am interested in this in the future, as we will get some sort of lab or retriever. With a 60/40 split back seat in a crew cab, will there be enough room on the floor for the dog if you to put the 40 seat up so the kids can sit on the other 60 side?

Most of my dogs have rode in the box no cap no leash they didnt mind when the gooseneck was on my newest dog (wifes dog) is a pug no letting him ride in the box unfortunatly

While my GSD isn't 106#, he's still big at 85#'s and there's tons of room for him in the back with the seat folded up and the flat floor deployed. I traveled the SW last winter and he went EVERYWHERE with me...1033D882-48B9-4A1C-BD27-F0D2FD3A40C4.jpeg

I have never heard any parks refusing a dog breed

Iam not saying he wouldn't fit, however, he was not raised going in the cars or trucks and he is very high energy and in your personal space so long trips would be bad haha

You my friend have never been to California!!. I have seen it in other states also.
