Lets see those power wagons

Got the truck on Friday, 10 April. Tires on 11 April. Tweaks over the weekend. Took it out in the snow and mud 17 April and ripped the license plate holder off. :D

How did it drive?
Engine barely felt like it was pulling any extra weight and brakes barely any different to when empty. As I would expect from a 3/4 ton truck. The suspension was all that felt noticeably different, it was much softer than unloaded. Didn’t feel like it ever bottomed out but I wasn’t trying. Didn’t feel underdamped or bouncy, just softer.

Got a gas can setup on the bed rack. Had to rearrange the items on the rack to better distribute the weight. Think the rack is basically built-out now. Further down the road I will add a spare tire mount when I go from my 35s to 37s. Will probably add a 100w solar panel on top of the spare or the traction pads also.

I need to look into this more. And then a pulley system to lift it all off.

Been debating finally making the plunge back to the shortbed world with a TRADESMAN with Powerwagon package.

That rack seems to work real well with the RamBox also.

Man, I am so glad you are helping sway my decision.

Great setup you are building

I never thought of a pully system to lift it off! I looked into those for when I had a bed topper on my 1500. Should work fine for my bed rack and even easier than using a pully on a bed topper. Good call!

I didn't realize how much I would love having the RamBox. All my recovery gear I would normally have in bins in the bed of the truck are now in the ramboxes. Plus some other items (spare clothes, backpack, etc). Also, in my last truck I had to buy a bed topper to protect all the gear I would store in the bins.

Also, keep in mind that my bed rack also acts like a huge locked storage bin. I can throw big items in the bed and you wouldn't be able to take it out unless you had the key to open the tailgate. The rack keeps people from pulling stuff out of your bed. If someone had lots of time and the tools they could remove the rack to get at your stuff, but for running errands around town it's good security.

It fit in the garage!! Had 1 inch to spare. Just picked it up...26 miles on it!

WOOHOO! It's a huge truck though....wow. The electronics are a bit daunting...but I'll get used to them.

Adaptive Cruise, Lane Change warnings, etc.

IMO the Power Wagon trim version is a far better deal than the Tradesman with Power Wagon package. $5k more adds a lot of very good features you can’t even get on the Tradesman PW (biggest one in my opinion: LED headlights, taillights, and foglights), nicer materials through out there cab, plus features I personally would want to add to a tradesman that are included , reducing the cost differential (tow mirrors, trailer brake controller, 8.4” radio)
