3500 SRW mega-cab Bed Replacement

We had an issue when I purchased a new 5th wheel resulting in the RV dealership having to replace the bed on my 2 month old 2021 3500 SRW. Unfortunately, Dodge doesn't sell full new bed assemblies, only the outer shell and inner panels which would have to be welded together. I would rather find a used bed and have it painted than have a bed assembled outside the factory but they are hard to find. My question is does anyone know if the bed on a 2500 short bed and 3500 SRW mega-cab 6' 4" short bed are the same on the 4.5 gens? It would seem like they would be? I will check with the dealership parts department just to cross-reference part #s but I figured someone on this forum would have an idea also. If I can shop for a 2500 bed it opens up the options, since all the 4.5 gen 3500 beds out there seem to be dually beds.
Thanks!

Did the RV dealership drop your new fiver on your new truck?

I would look for companies that put work beds and flat beds on trucks and see if they have a pull off you could buy. Where are you located?

I found a bed from a place that stocks the pull-off beds you mentioned. I am in northern California and the bed supplier I found is in SoCal (Riverside area). Its off of a 2020 3500 SRW but should work just fine and already has the 5th wheel prep package cutouts. It just needs to be painted.

The dealer's hitch installer connected the 5th wheel safety chains (which I wasn't expecting to have in the first place so I didn't have the chain anchors for the factory pucks) to the tie down hooks in the back corners of the truck bed, and when I made the first turn it pulled in the interior bed sidewall in as you would expect. I am using a single-point hitch that connects to the goose-ball hitch in the middle hole. The dealer has been awesome however and didn't question paying for the damage at all - which I wasn't expecting. I figured there is some waiver I signed saying they aren't responsible for tow vehicle damage under any circumstances, etc. However, I do feel bad since I should have noticed that the chains were not long enough for sharp turns and caught the mistake myself, but it was after a 3.5 hour visit purchasing the 5th wheel and we just wanted to get out of there so things got sloppy! Anyway, based upon the way they have handled the issue they have a customer for life since I bet I will be buying more Rvs in the future. Note that the 3500 is probably overkill for this size 5th wheel (10k lbs, 1900 lb hitch weight loaded, but I didn't want to do payload math all the time, otherwise I would have got a 2500.

Man, I'm glad you found one reasonable close. I was talking to some friends that put utility beds and flat beds on truck, I was ready to load one up and meet you half way. Would've been a haul for both of us, I'm in West Texas... LOL

I had an experience with a RV shop where they ended up buying my trailer due to damage they caused, so I understand the customer for life situation.

Don't worry about the over kill of the 3500 pulling your fiver, I pull a 13k bumper pull travel trailer with a 3500 dually :p. But I have several trailers that require the dually and I hate my travel trailer purchase options being limited by my truck.

Again, glad it all worked out for you!
