Price negotiated from MSRP

From my experience, bringing a vehicle into California from another state you will be required to have the vehicle smog certified.

I suppose that could be true, but being the vast majority of new vehicles are now "50 state" vehicles as it pertains to emissions, hopefully youre not correct. :)

It's California.
They dont care that it's 50 state legal, even with that stated on MSRO, and tamperproof label under the hood.
It will need to be smog certified. The vendor will enter information into the state system. I've been down this road a few times.
If the dealer in Washington has a way around the requirement, I would be wrong.

Submitted my order with Phillip at Bud Clary for a 3500 Mega Cab Laramie Night edition. Super easy process no hassle just a great deal and great customer service. $74900 MSRP and paying $65500! And to think I almost bought a Bighorn Mega Cab Night edition 2500 for $67015 MSRP for $62884 at another dealer. The money I saved for me a higher trim level with more options. Phillip is busy with lots of orders but it’s worth contacting him if you want to get a fair no haggle price.

Yes - had dealer triple check truck would be compliant with CA EPA and he confirmed with Ram that it was. It thought that was the case nowadays, but heard a horror story about somebody a few years ago that bough a truck in Arizona and couldn't register in CA because at that time it was only 49 state legal.

I expect that I will have to smog and weigh it - my brother in law works at a place with a scale and has lots of confused people show up saying they moved from out of state and DMV said they needed to get weighed. You'd think that being brand new they would let it slide, but they must want the extra revenue :)

To be clear, the WA dealer is only collecting CA sales tax - it's up to me to register it in CA. The smog/weigh thing is a PITA but willing to put up with it to save some money.

I talked to Phil between my question to you and your answer above. He says the buying experience for us CA guys will be exactly like purchasing in CA. He will hadnle all of the DMV and taxes. SOunds like there wont be any smog (new vehicle) or weighing needed. Hope that's true!

He told me the same about his abilities to find competitive financing. I plan to give him a shot.

When did you get your VIN? Also.. what exactly is the build sheet? Sorry for the dumb questions! This is my first time special ordering a new vehicle.
Ordered on 2/15 and received VIN on 2/18. The build sheet is something that is printed AFTER they build the truck, and before it goes to the body vendor to have extras put on (Sideboards, spray in liner, ram boxes, 5th wheel prep, trailer camera wiring, etc.) After the body vendor, then they print the window sticker. Go to the general discussion sticky thread that talks about build codes, etc. and it will walk you through. In my experience, I got an email on 2/28 from FCA with an estimated delivery. I then checked Ram Chat a few times, but they just gave generic answers that the supplies were pulled together and they waiting to build. Then out of the blue got a text from Phil saying "Truck is built" and I was able to enter my vin in the website the next day and pull the VIN sheet.

Good for you! I got the 2500 Mega Cab Laramie. So far so good from my end in dealing with him.

You'll need to get it smogged.....

Annoying, but no biggie i suppose.

That's great. He entered my order yesterday. This is going to be the longest 2-3 months of my life haha.

Just started looking for a 2500. I live in PA anyone have a suggestion for a dealer that has decent prices?

2021 Power Wagon ordered today, in Olive Green, with the following options:
  • 75th Anniversary
  • Safety Group
  • Bed Utility Group
  • Sunroof
Paying $62,400, before TTL, rebates, or any (hopeful) incentives. MSRP was $71,825, per Ram Configurator.

Sounds like a really good deal! Best I have seen in New England is invoice on a factory ordered truck. Mind me asking, where'd you order it from?

2021 3500 srw laramie loaded with everything except sunroof . MSRP $82510 and dealer selling it to me for $72325 minus another $1500 bonus cash and truecar discount = $70825 +TTL.

You may want to take a look at this thread, as well: https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/how-to-get-the-best-price-on-your-new-ram.26103/

Assuming you're in New England, Washington is about as far away from you as possible. There is one other recommended guy in there, in Louisiana. His price was a few hundred more than Phillips pricing, and he was twice as far away from me. Though, they can always ship the truck to you too.

I've got nothing but good things to say about Phillip so far. Email the specs, he'll give you his best price, and that's that. No BS at all.

Same here. Ordered 3/7. Phillip got me almost 8% under invoice. Talked to him earlier and he said it's on the train but still south of the border.

Ha! Just heard the same thing today. Phillip has been great so far; very communicative. Provides better/more frequent info than you get from Ram Chat for sure.

The sad part is he said it's coming to Indiana before heading west to Washington. The csx line it'll be taking west is literally the north border of our property. Only to have to ship it 3000 miles back here.

I ordered from Mark Dodge in Lake Charles LA.
50 days from day of order, to delivery at dealers lot.
I believe that to be the worlds record fastest build of a 2021 Ram HD.
Perhaps the 650 mile distance from Saltillo to Lake Charles has something to do with the fast shipment.
Shipping from LA to Sacramento was three days.
The OTD price was the best I found. And I got quotes from them all.
