I am still trying to decide which truck I want to order between Ram 2500 and one of the GM 2500's. I don't have a time limit where I need it by or anything like that but it is something I planned to take care of this year. I know it is still early in the year but Is there a certain point in the year where if I haven't made a decision yet, that I should just wait for 2022's?

I would base the decision on what you need/want as compared to the options available. If any of the rumored options that may or may not change in 2022 are on your 'must-have' list, then it makes sense to wait. If everything you need is available in a 2021, might as well go for it once you've decided which one you want.
I ordered my 2020 just days before they started taking orders for 2021s. None of the 2021 options were must-have for me and since I was going the Hemi route, the pump wasn't a variable that made any difference to me.

What are the rumored changes to 2022's? Are they mentioned somewhere in the forum? And when do they typically start taking orders for the next year? I guess I am just thinking if it ends up taking 6 months to receive the truck, then I would kind of rather have the 2022 since they would be coming out around that time anyways. But then again, I guess you can't go chasing the newest thing all the time because something else will always be new the next day.

Seems like the main thing is all the camera stuff. Looking at the trailer tech package now, I don't think any of that stuff seems worth the $2 or whatever it is so I probably wouldn't want any of this stuff either. I guess I figure while I would be pulling a trailer sometimes, I would always have someone with me to go out and help guide me backing it up. A camera at the very back of the trailer would be nice to see what is behind you, but it looks like that is available now or with a separate screen. So if there are no changes to the body or anything, maybe it doesn't really matter if I wait or not. I plan on keeping it at least 10-15 years or more so I guess the only downside might be for someone that planned to sell it in a few years, they would have a truck that is almost an extra year old, but if you keep it a while, that probably doesn't matter.This is the only thing I have seen:

It would be impossible for me to ignore the impact of Covid on quality and reliability. Overall it feels like Covid has adversely impacted both while customer service has declined. Production lines have been shut down and even after limited manufacturing has been restarted, component shortages are limiting throughput. The semiconductor shortage can be seen in the 2500 class of vehicles as dealer inventories are very low to non-existent. My brother in law worked in the new vehicle transport industry and noted that those vehicles missing components to finish out production are being hauled to storage lots. Later when components are available they may run the trucks back through the production line to install and test the vehicle to finish out production. Or they may hire some 3rd party to retrofit the sea of partially built product.
In summary I would have to think twice on 2021 product and also consider the possibility that 2021 product delays will impact 2022 introduction. The industry spokepersons are saying the semi issues are going to last at least 6 months. Well that says even 2022's will be impacted.

That makes me a little nervous now too. It's been 20 years since I bought a new truck and I figure I am finally going to treat myself and upgrade, and now I am afraid I going to get something with issues!
I used to work for American Honda from 2008-2011. I was shown the raw stats for all manufacturers across the board for all vehicles. Basically, the stats showed that 80% of folks will not have any issues with new vehicles from any manufacturer. 10% will have issues corrected at the local dealership. 5% will have issues resolved with manufacturer assistance. 3% will have repeated issues and take several trips to resolve. and 2% will be a buy manufacturer back. Those "best in class" and "best in ****" are classes that are made up classes to suit the manufacturer advertising.
So buy your new truck and don't worry. I did buy the 7 year 100k mile warranty because of the stupid amount of electronic controls.

I definitely automatically would say no to one, but reading the forums, and seeing that the Zieglar warranty mentioned here is only around $1600 for 8 years, I think that is definitely worth it.

Yikes... i got in just in time then. I ordered last week.
That runs concurrent with the factory warranty.
I did 60K/8 with a $200 deductible for $1058 after beating up the dealer with Ziegler's pricing. I do just under 5K/year. The 12" and DEF stuff was enough to push me into something I generally never buy.
About what I paid via my credit union. I have a couple of friends who used the extended warranty from the credit union at the dealership without issues. The paid the $100 fee for $2000+ work!
I will have to check on that, unless they JUST cut if off, because I have heard some people on here that just ordered.
It may be different this year, but typically, when does production start for a new model? Like, if you can place an order for a 22 in the summer and they are delivered by September or October or so, that would probably be fine. That almost seems better than if I ordered this month and didn't receive it until August. But I don't want to get to where I wouldn't be able to receive it until early next year, as I would like to get this done this year.

I am not looking to find last year's model or even this year's model on a lot. I will need to order to get exactly what I want and leave out the things I don't need. From what others have said on here, sounds like they are getting pretty good deals on trucks they order.
