Fuel MPG Differences

2.5" Leveling kit
35" tires

6.4 Hemi with the 4.10 rear axle versus 6.7 Cummins with the 3.73. Do you think there would be much of a difference in fuel economy? Where I am diesel run 30-40 cents more per gallon. Obviously the diesel engine costs a lot more. 68rfe vs Aisin?

My 6.4 was a 6 speed 3.73, but daily driving I would average mid 13's. My 2020 cummins HO is averaging upper 15's with less than 2000 miles on it.
 
I am a very conservative driver, but I average ~24 highway and ~17 city. 6.7l 20 inch wheels
 
It will take you a decade or more to make up the extra money you spent on the diesel option through MPG improvements.

These days a new diesel truck is not necessarily bought for the efficiency gain over gas. They are bought for the ease of towing massively heavy loads and pulling a 5% grade with 15k lbs or more behind you at 60+ mph.
 
I figure it will take at least 200,000 miles (probably more) for the fuel savings on my Cummins to become a break even proposition. When you figure in extra maintenence costs, probably never, but that's not why I chose it.
 
My first tank with my brand new 2021 3500 CC 4x4 SB 6.4 4:10 axle with a mix of 80/20 highway to city driving I got a manually calculated 13.6 mpg. Computer showed 15.3 Mpg. Mostly interstate driving at 70mph unloaded. Very happy with that.

It should improve.
 
Not sure why some people keep criticizing the cost to upgrade to the 6.7 diesel Over the Hemi. They always claim that you’ll never recoup the money. The 6.7 will sell for considerably more on the back end so this isn’t much of an argument against the cost of the 6.7

Most of it is recouped sure, but not 11k like like the HO cost. I love the fuel economy empty, but pulling my fifth wheel so far is maybe 1 mpg more than my 6.4 was.
