Airbags with Thuren springs

I have my Thuren Overland with Fox 2.0s getting installed Friday. I've got a 2020 2500 Night Edition 6.4, I tow travel trailers and boats occasionally. Max load for me would be under 9k pounds. Most of the time I have a weight distribution hitch, but sometimes not. I really would like to not sag with the softer springs. Has anyone installed Firestone bags (or any other brand) and Daystar cradles with the Thuren kit? I am not sure how much sag I am really going to have.

I looked into Timbren's too, but I just don't think they are for me. I don't tow but once a month or so and it seems like they can be pretty awful on ride quality unloaded over rougher terrain.

Thanks!

Carli or Thuren did a YouTube video about adding airbags to their leveling kits. I’d suggest calling the manufacturer to ask if they have a recommendation first. They know their suspension better than anyone here and can likely give you a good suggestion.

Yes sir! Did just that yesterday. He gave me a cpl recommendations for bags and the Sumo Spring.

I run the airlift 5k bags and their 2" spacer. works perfect with pure performance springs.

Let us know what you end up installing and how you like it. I’m in a similar situation. I’d like a bit of a lift for some backcountry driving, but I also need to be able to pull a 14,000 pound trailer occasionally.

I have the 2" Thuren front springs but running the OE rear springs. I am using Timber Grove air bags on mine to keep the rear from squatting when towing the travel trailer and they do a great job!

Considering a similar setup. Reason for going with the aftermarket suspension:
I want some lift front and rear - retain factory rake (It's a big truck, need to increase clearance, approach/depature/breakover angles) Bumpers etc ill come later possibly.
I want the extra articulation / suspension travel for offroading (factory coils have very limited travel)
Not too fussed on super soft ride - I want to retain close to factory payload rating - losing 10% is fine - True overloading, going slow, reasonable speeds with payload- not gassing it out in the desert.

Research so far indicates Carli and Turen systems would tick all the boxes except for the payload loss. Sure, I can add airbags but then I will lose some upward articulation travel in the rear.
obviously, suspension upgrade is something you'd want to get right first time. Ideally, a longer coil for better articulation with a better spring rate for load.

Anyone faced a similar dilemma and have some solutions where the compromises are in all the right places?

I will be getting some lighter wheels and 37's to go with this, however this will help GVWR / rotational mass etc and not payload since it is unsprung weight.

I know this is a pretty old thread, but just like @elephantrider I added the airlift 5000 with 2" spacers. The spacers likely weren't needed for my Thuren 1" rear springs, but I wasn't sure at the time I was ordering, so they went on in the process and haven't caused any issues.

How is the rear articulation with the airbags? Compared to stock?

Huge improvement over stock (no measurements, but seat-of-the pants assessment). With my long bed, I haven't been in a situation yet where I felt the airbags have limited me in the slightest, but the second that changes I'll be swapping in Daystar cradles.

I'm contemplating some airbags with daystar cradles after my Carli Pintop is installed. I'm not towing much at all right now, but I'd rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. I'd like to be able to run the Airlift bags with jounces at 0 PSI in order to have little if any interference with the $$$ Carli suspension. I'm concerned about spending all this dough on a nice suspension setup and then ruining it (at least partially) with bags.

I also saw on another "Cummins related forum" someone modified their Timbren mounts to a sort of quick(er) release setup. This would be great if you could just spin them on and off as needed.
