2021 Bighorn Factory Order - Options Difference?

Looking for some advise from folks that have factory order their truck. I am from Alberta, Canada (Calgary area) and ordered a 2021 Ram 2500 Bighorn 6.4L on Feb 27.

In my order it indicates "equipment group B" which is different to what I built using the Ram website build and price tool - there it was called "level 2 equipment group". The dealer assured me they are the same but this morning I checked the Ram site again and now there are TWO different package options showing up, IE BOTH "equipment group B" OR "level 2 equipment group". 1 is $3595 and the other $3995 CAD. The options list is similar but not the same, EG group B doesn't list blind spot and cross path which I wanted.

So, now I don't know exactly what I am getting which is hugely frustrating and one of the main reasons I factory ordered, IE to get EXACTLY the build I wanted. I have attached the build spec that my dealer sent to me....

Any advice or tips from those who have ordered? Did you end up getting exactly what you ordered? What happens if my truck shows up and its not exact per my spec? Could I get a deposit refund? This is one of those times where I would rather deal with Ram direct and not have to trust what my dealer is telling me....

Your not getting blindspot because a shortage of components
Thank you for the response.

So that is the $400 difference?? So frustrating to order and then Ram changes the option! Interesting they still have the LED tail lamps though, which house the cross path sensors? Im guessing they are just not inside.

Yes thats the difference, they would be part of the towing tech group too but with everything else led they would be odd to not have led tails

There’s a chip shortage so RAM had to adjust options/packages in order to stretch the inventory they have. One casualty is Blind Spot. Bummer for you.

You said it! Bummer for sure.

I have emailed my dealer and will call them tomorrow. The issue is that I ordered (and paid for) the Level 2 Group, plus I want the blind spot/cross path for that extra safety when towing. I hope they can change it, because when I ordered, I clearly ordered the Bighorn Level 2 Equipment... the dealer was the one who told me that is was the same as level B. Hopefully the dealer can sort it out directly with their FCA rep.

Good luck with your dealer. They were incorrect saying the packages were the same. I would tell them to add the BSM when parts are available as part of your deal.
When I ordered on 2/6 my dealer was only able to order the "B" groups without the BSM. I am planning to add the sensors (and mirrors if necessary) myself when they become available.

Thank you! I will post an update after I speak with my dealer tomorrow. I wondering how easy it is to add BSM and CrossPath after it arrives? I like both options so I am not sure whether an option is to just wait or not? Seems like my dealer definitely ordered group B instead of Level 2, perhaps because in their sales system Level 2 didn't show up... who knows. Sometimes I wish customers could just order factory direct, at least then I can hold myself accountable should I screw up the order!!

So I spoke to my dealer today. They confirmed that yes they definitely ordered the Group B and NOT Level 2, hence I am not getting BSM or Crosspath. Bummer, and the dealer should never have told me Group B and Level 2 were the same.

The bigger issue is that when verifying this with the dealer, I noticed on my build sheet 2 other issues where my build seems to have reverted the initial changes that were made by my dealer (the GVWR option and off road group), so my situation has gotten far worse.... AND my dealer says its now too late to adjust anything, so I am stuck waiting for a truck that doesn't even have all the options I want. This ordering process stinks - the lack of transparency is awful and at this stage I am about ready to charge into my dealer and demand my deposit back!

You are certainly justified in CANCELLING the order. I would! They basically ordered what they wanted, so let them sell the thing to someone else. Sorry that you were put through this.
Now, do you order from another dealer or WAIT until the supply chain has been restored? Or you could see if RAM Corporate will assist with the truck you actually want. Good luck!

Sounds to me like a bad dealer contact.

When I went through the ordering process, I was provided a preview build sheet that I was given the responsibility to review and approve. They would not accept my deposit, nor place my order until I reviewed and provided a wet signature stating that it was "OK to build" along with my signature.

At the time, I was a little saddened that the trailer camera wiring prep was no longer available, but accepted the change from what we'd agreed to and allowed them to proceed (cost was reduced accordingly).

I see above a statement about a deposit being left, but then another about how certain packages had already been paid for. I don't know how any of that works, but regardless, if the truck that is now coming does not match what was originally agreed to be ordered, there should be no issue getting the deposit back and making a decision to re-order (with a better dealer), buy a unit already in stock, or something else.

I really doubt FCA will do anything as in their eyes, they're building exactly what they received in the build sheet. Not that it makes things right, but part of the process when we are forced to allow a 3rd party into the mix.

Thanks for all the responses so far. I have been pretty frustrated with my experience but I have made some progress...

I escalated the issue to my dealer and basically said that unless they fix it directly with FCA at the factory, that I wanted my deposit back and would be taking my business to another dealership. The odd thing with all this is that this is the 4th vehicle I have purchased from this dealer in 6 years, and the last 3 times I had a great experience. Anyways, my "escalation" was 2 days ago, and since they have reported back to me that 2 of the 3 issues with my order have been addressed, and they should have confirmation on the 3rd issue being resolved by Friday.

Still no factory blind spot monitoring (the order still says Group B not Level 2) but im prepared to accept that given I don't want to risk further screw ups by this dealer by attempting to push more changes on them. I have settled for them making my "must have" changes and that I will add BSM after I take delivery. I figured that FCA might say no to BMS (Level 2) anyways given the chip shortage.

Please explain what GVWR "option" is an issue.

Please explain what GVWR "option" is an issue.
I'm in Canada and up here we have an option for a 9,900lb GVWR build or 10,000lb on the 2500 trucks. Yes, its only 100lb difference and while there isn't a physical difference in the truck between the 2, I would much rather have that additional 100lb payload rating, especially if I am factory ordering. 10k is the standard but for some reason my dealer put through the order with the 9,900lb option. That was the issue.

An update to report.... I just heard from my dealer, and they have sent me a revised build order confirmation with all my options corrected, aside from the BSM which I'm fine to deal with and will likely add down the road after I get my truck. YES!!

My only question to them was.... I thought it was interesting that in my build sheet, it shows BOTH the "off road group" (ARC) AND the "protection group" (ADB), but on the RAM configurator tool I can't actually add both options - it is the off road group I wanted which I know includes the skid plate and tow hooks. I guess the dealers have access to a different configurator system, but ultimately I'm assuming all that matters is that this POC shows everything that I want on my truck - as this is exactly what goes to build?

Maybe that's how they got it to 10,000 GVWR. ;)

Glad you got it sorted out.
LOL - I'm not sure how they got it done (when they said they couldn't) but all looks good. Fingers crossed the right truck shows up.... in about 6 months lol

The ram configurator tool is not reliable in knowing what can and can't be combined. The dealer's system is what determines how a truck can be configured.

Thanks. So in other words, you are indicating that if the dealer supplied me with this order spec then that should be exactly what gets built? I have my fingers crossed that I can get a build sheet or window sticker in coming weeks to confirm
