Is the 12.0" vertical screen just a gimmick?

I have the 12" screen. IMO, it looks very cool but from a functional standpoint it's a flop. Maybe I'm missing something, but I think I would me much happier with the 8.4" and hard buttons. None of the cameras show full screen. The only app that does work full screen that I know of is the NAV and I usually use Waze for that. Using the touch screen is too much of a distraction for adjusting the climate control. Hard buttons would be so much easier and less distracting.

I like the 12" but it definitely isn't a "killer feature" that the YouTube reviewers make it out to be. It's just not utilized anywhere close to its full potential because Ram just twisted the 8.4 OS to make it work rather than fully developing a 12" specific OS.

I only have one real complaint, RamCares if you're listening, who thought it was a good idea to make the climate 'off' button so dang tiny and only appear on the climate screen? If you have the split screen climate up there is no actual 'off' button, you have to leave split screen and go to the climate screen then find the tiny little 'off' button. In my mind this should have been a physical button even

I used the auto climate control and only needed to adjust the temperature if I was driving longer than normal, as it would get too hot inside the truck in the winter.

I always use the hard buttons on the side of the 12" screen for my HVAC controls. The only soft button I use is for the seats and steering wheel.

I like to adjust the direction of the airflow. Also, I have a '19 with the service bulletin for the finicky hvac system so it seems to need more tinkering than should be required.

The mode button on the left side of the 12” screen controls the airflow direction. Even trucks with the other sized radios are subject to the HVAC service bulletin.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Probably worth waiting for the UConnect 5 in the next minor update. I'll play around with each screen type at the dealer at some point.

I really like the 12" screen. Pretty much everyone has touched on what I would change to improve it. Hard buttons for the heated seats and steering wheel like the 8.4, and full screen camera.
