What kinda oil does Cummins put in there engines from factory 19” HO. What oil will my engine have in it

Dino oil? What if I’m in sub zero weather. Does that mean I have to change oil on day one?

Cummins doesn't put any oil in these engines. If they did, it'd likely be Valvoline Premium Blue. Cummins engines in Ram pickmeups are filled by FCA with a Shell product cuz that's who they're currently in bed with. As others have noted, for 19 it's a 10W-30 fill that meets both FCA and Cummins specs and is no good for the winter that occurs over a large swath of North America. I researched this a while back to identify specifically what oil was in the pan and based on that dig, my best guess is Rotella T5 Semi Syn. I dumped the factory fill in Oct and filled with Rotella T6 Syn (5W-40). That's what's gonna stay in it going fwd.

T-5 is prolly rated below 0

T-5 should be fine if that’s what it is. Says it’s rated to -20 I don’t expect it to fall below 0 that many times this winter and no colder than -10, in Southern Ohio.

Warmer climates you need to run 10w-30 in the summer and in the winter you must run synthetic 5w-40 in cooler climates you can run this year round..... this is a must because of the hydraulic lifters they run

T-5 is semi synthetic you need t-6 synthetic
Also the temp rating depends on viscosity

They run t-6 10w30 from the factory according to the multiple dealers i spoke too

I wonder how HSS Green Diamond Fleet stacks up to it. Been leaning towards that one for my first change.

I'd be doing 5W-40 even in 120°F Arizona. Come at me!

If you have a lifter tick you will know why....
Earlier you said it ok to run 5w-40 year-round. FCA also says 5w-40 is ok to run in all climates.
Why then do you imply he'll have lifter tick for running 5w-40 year-round?

I did say in cooler climates year round is fine but i just re read the TSB and noticed it said it can be run in warmer climates during summer months but recommended is 10w30.... i guess i was slightly dyslexic when i first read it lol
