2021 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your order here!

Finally got a bit of information about why my truck has been in JB status (vendor purgatory) for 30 days now. Parts shortage, I ordered a loaded 3500 Limited with everything including tonneau cover, sunroof, ttpms, trailer camera wiring, etc. Said the estimated time for my parts is two weeks to arrive, then approximately 4 weeks to ship. Will put me at 18 weeks total if it holds true.

Ouch! Hope it’s on the shorter end of that estimate. But, at least they gave you answers!

Did you order it with Ram Boxes also? I did, with a tonneau cover also. I wonder if that's why mine is being held up

Ram box delete, I got the gooseneck/fifth wheel prep. Between all of us on here, if our trucks are held up, we should be able to narrow it down to what part it is.

Mine is at body vendor since March 4th. Do they do the sunroofs there? Mine has bedliner, LED bed lighting, rear step (bed utility group), and sunroof. No steps or tonneau. Also have the Chmsl camera if that matters.

Not impressed with my sales guy by the way. He sent me a text today... your truck is at the body vendor!! Like I’m supposed to be excited. Yea, it’s been there since last week. Welcome to the party

Mine is also at body vendor for the bed utility group for about a week. No steps or anything else they would have to install at the body vendor. Only "parts" they would have to install are the led lights and bed step, then of course spray the bed liner. We shall see how long mine is there and if those are the parts that are holding things up.

I believe they do the sunroofs there.

Mines at vendor since 3.3.21. Limited 3500 Mega HO. Bedliner, side steps, rear bed step, rambox, ttpms but no sunroof.

Just be happy you’re getting something. My salesman has texted me twice weekly since 1/11 with some variation of “Hey bro, haven’t heard anything yet. Sorry it’s taking longer than expected.”

meanwhile, I’ve called the manager every other week, and it takes him literally 10 seconds to pull it up. Once I got confirmation the truck had shipped, I texted my salesman again. I told him I was getting nervous about how long it was taking. I got. “Yeah. Waiting sux. Gonna be worth it tho.” as a response.

I can’t wait for that survey card.

Happy Camper here.

Ram dealer to the south of me coming here tomorrow with a fat cashiers check, buying my 2016 2500.

Talked to Aaron Ginsburgh at Mark Dodge in Lake Charles LA this afternoon. My new build will be delivered tomorrow.
Ordered 1/21, delivered 3/12. That's like 7 weeks. A new worlds record?
I remember Aaron telling me, "I tell everyone 8-12 weeks, but we usually get them sooner."

I got a little melancholy today, cleaning out the 2016. That truck served me well. Other than replacing the brake release lever twice, never had any problems.
Whomever buys that truck will be satisfied.

My truck is going through Chicago to Detroit. There is a rail yard under the Ambassador Bridge where they are off loaded. Canadian trucks pick up the trucks destined for Canada, take them across the bridge and transfer them to a yard in Windsor. There may be other routes, but that is what is listed for my truck.
Let me know when it’s in Windsor, maybe I can grab a pre delivery pic for you! I drive by a couple holding yards everyday, on my way to and from work. I work in trades at the Windsor Assembly Plant (Pacifica plant).

I ordered a 75AE Power Wagon on 1/22/21, still don’t have a VIN. I only added, dual alternator, LED bed lighting, bed liner, and roadside safety kit.

Wow, that was fast. I ordered the same day. Not really following mine too close but is was still in D1 early last week.

Best of luck with the new rig. I also know the bitter sweet ending of one truck relationship and starting a new one. This new truck, while I know it will be nice, has so e big shoes to fill. I love my 2nd gen. We have just physically outgrown it. I'm sure many on this board have been in the same situation.

Congrats! What day did it ship? I ordered 1/8 and mine shipped 2/26. Last I heard, it was scheduled to be at the final rail stop Sunday. That’s a couple of hours away from my dealer. No telling how long it takes to get from there to the dealer.

I couldn't wait and backed out of my order. Dealer said the $3k I put down was non-refundable. When I called him 1 week ago about cancelling he stated again it is non-refundable. I didn't want to debate it at that time and waited another week.

At 9 weeks I was still in D1. My order was a fully loaded limited with all the safety stuff, trailer TPMS, etc so the chip shortage was mostly likely my delay. Knowing what others are going through I called him and said I do want to cancel. I have an RV coming in a few weeks and trips planned. I need a truck.

I stated with the truck in D1 I won't see this truck in at least another month and that is if it is built today. He stated the build process already started. I stated it hasn't, and maybe the part allocation has started but the truck physically hasn't been built yet. It takes a day or so to build, then off to body vendor for the bolt on options (bed liner, cover, steps, etc). He stated that is incorrect. It takes weeks/months to build a truck and your truck is already being built. Semantics. I laughed and didn't want to argue.

He did me a favor by talking to his manager and approved my full refund even though it was non-refundable. I'm sure this truck will sell quick 'when' he gets it so don't feel bad.
I don't think its fair that dealers are allowed to 'stretch' the truth on things to cover up these incredibly long lead/build times. Its unfortunate, and sort of out of their control. However, they do have the option to keep the customer informed which is what I'm disappointed with. Many buyers have timelines and I used the quoted 8 - 9 week timeline when ordering with some slop. Some don't care when the truck comes in. I do and unfortunately had to jump.

Thought you guys would enjoy my experience. Don't be fooled. You guys DO have other options. Good luck!

I would almost guarentee the dealer cannot keep your deposit and if they argue about it a simple call to your AG would surely get your deposit back. They can't take your money and keep it without delivering the product
