What did you do TO your RAM today?

Hey Rockcrawler.....that looks great, difficult to run power? I want to do mine also....what brand did you use?
Thanks
Hey buddy. They are Lux lighting “rock lights”. They are small magnetic pucks. They draw only ~220mA each. I spliced them into the factory bed lighting circuit. They’re ~3x brighter than the factory leds. They’re $27 each unless you buy a 4 pack then they’re a little less.

check the link, it should take you straight to my post in another thread. Post has pics.

I'd be interested in how you did this?
It wasn’t too hard, hardest part was taking the door panel apart and feeding my Hot wire through the door into the cab. If i put the switch on the dash somewhere it would of saved me about an hour. But I use to have a Dodge Charger and it has a button in the door like that to pop the gas cap and I liked it. Once I popped the door panel off which is all the screws around the perimeter and one behind the handle I located a hot wire. It was live even with the truck off and keys out. I wanted to be able to use the button anytime I wanted. I just drilled my small hole for a momentary switch ran from my located hot to the switch, and out of the switch into the cab where the wire harnesses route through the rubber passage between the door and the cab. Took off the door sill trim to expose the parking brake and where it runs through a grommet in the floor. The sill trim literally just pulled off by hand. It’s held in with clips. And ran my wire through the parking brake grommet to get it to the underside of the truck. Ran it along with other wires along the frame to the rear. I dropped my spare down for a little more room and ran my wire up and into the tailgate. When you drop the spare down and look up above the hitch from underneath the truck you will see where I went. It’s where existing wires run for the tailgate. Ran it up the the top of the inside of the tailgate where the existing wire harness runs for you electric tailgate button. And made one splice. The wire I spliced runs to both side latches so if you supply power here they will both open. Make sure you run a fuse somewhere. At first I put a 10amp in the door but thought about after everything was already done and didn’t like the idea of having to open the door panel to replace a fuse. (Its kinda a pain in the ass) so I put another inline fuse in my tailgate. But I used a 5 amp here because I would want it to pop the fuse here first. If I ran another ten amp it could pop either one. The 5 amp fuse works fine and if I were to do it all again I think a 5amp is probably all I would need. The picture of the wires I attached is in the gate. It’s the location where I spliced into the harness in the gate.6F34CF72-0787-4C96-93EC-7AA2FDBCF0E0.jpeg

Installed the bull rings in both rear corners of the bed. Pretty simple install and the quality is fantastic.

A few goodies arrived today. Just waiting on the Bakflip MX4 and above 60 temps to swap all the chrome badging to black.

Good call on getting rid of the firestones! I switched mine back in November and do not regret it at all!

Link to part number?

Did you have to trim the hole?
I bought the gunmetal flush mount ones. https://www.bullringusa.com/product/gunmetal-flush-fit-tie-down-anchors-19-20-dodge/
I did have to trim the plastic. They have a great video explaining it on their site. The lines are already in the plastic. I used a utility knife and a small torch to heat the blade. Then pushed through the scribed line on the plastic. I would get about 2 maybe 3 "cuts" then re-heat the blade. I didn't want to "slice" through the plastic as I didn't want to cut into the paint. It was an easy job though, 15 minutes per side.

Bug shield
Ahhhhhhhh Now I see

Speaking of which, what is everyone using for a gravel guard/bug shield? I like the "form fitting" one from either AVS or Weathertech. And now that I know that the 2020 hoods (and presumably the 2019 as well) are the same it makes the search a lot easier

I bought mine right from the "My Ram" app on my phone.

So these are more along the line of chip protection than bug deflection?
