Rattle Noise In Cab

This is just absolutely sad to continue to read! FCA is better than this and these rattles and pops should not be an issue! Period!
This is why I HAVE NOT let them take my 70k truck apart and try to fix it as it’s very clear that FCA does not have a solution to a very serious problem!
This FCA retiree will continue to drive his “rattle can” until the warranty is up and then reconsider wether or not I will continue to buy RAM trucks in the future! It’s sad that many have probably come to this as well!

It sounds like a soda can is crunching all around my cab when I accelerate, decelerate and make turns. If I have to leave my truck for more than a day I'm going to lose my mind. I'm a pretty calm guy and I understand there are issues, but like many have said on this forum, "I paid $XX for a vehicle and I should expect to be able to drive the vehicle I purchased and currently make payments on as much as I want."

This month marks thirteen months I have been seeking a resolution for the rattle coming from the rear cab mounts. The dealer replaced the cab mounts six months before the TSB was published, when the TSB was released they performed the work and installed the updated parts but it still rattles.

I have had case managers, Star cases and even a customer retention specialist but she isn't very good at her job. My truck was set to go in for some exploratory work to be done per the FCA engineers and a tech advisor. The day of my appointment my customer retention specialist called while I was in route to the dealer to notify me that my appointmentwas canceled, I was already a half hour down the road.

She told me that the engineers and tech advisor that set the appointment reconvened and determined that since the TSB had been performed there was nothing left to do to my vehicle. She told me that they said the rattle that still exists is a normal characteristic of the vehicle. When I spoke to the staff at the dealership they said FCA contacted them to say they were not authorizing any more work on my vehicle regarding the rattle.

It is not rocket science and appears to be very low on FCA's list of priorities, surely their engineers are more capable. My customer retention specialist on the other hand should resign and find another line of work. For my troubles I was offered an oil change plan, extended warranty or employee pricing on a new vehicle. I have two years of prepaid oil changes already, they can't fix the vehicle under the current warranty and I sure as hell won't be buying another Ram............

Looks like you're in lemon law territory and if FCA is refusing anymore work for the issue, you should have plenty of legal recourse to dump it and move on. These threads are starting to get me nervous, and I havent even made my first payment on the truck yet, but I've got body mount pops AND as of yesterday the dreaded creaking steering wheel

Why does my 2020/3500 have none of these issues and some do have this issue, as you described ? do they not all use the same hardware to mount cab and bed to frame ?

Bad batches of parts trickle through all the time, or in the case of my POS RV, some are built on Fridays or Mondays and people aren't putting their best on the assembly line.

Possibly not just the cab mounts but irregularities in the frame and chassis fitment, clearances etc. Frame and chassis welds could have been misaligned at the factory during the welding process.
FCA may have to construct different thickness cab mounts or washer type shims for proper cab to frame clearances. Hopefully they'll figure it out soon.

Hope you all get a fixe soon. I get perturbed if something in back of truck is vibrating like a cub or something. That would drive me nuts.

Brought my truck in this morning when service opened (7am) and had it back to me by 915 or so. Below is the technician's solution:

"Rear axle control arm bushings in bind. Tighten all control arms on ground, tighten trace bar and sway bar."

No mention of cab mounts at all. I drove it 10 miles or so to work with no noise so we'll see if it holds up.

The replacements are better than before but the noise is still there. I just worry about the damage its doing long term since it does go away completely initially then within a few hundred miles its back.

I have it as well and can not locate.. any news from others who have identified it would be great.
I have a 2020 1500 ram and I think my noise is coming from the back part of the roof. Not as bad on warm days. I can tap on the front of the roof and it sounds solid but if I tap on the back outside of the roof it rattles, sounds worse driving slow on a rough road. I have an appointment with my dealer next week.

You're on the HD Ram site.

Perhaps you'll have better luck over on the sister site 5thgenrams.com

My 2019 has had the noise since I bought it in Sept of ‘19. Over 35,000 miles of enduring it. Finally went and had the TSB performed yesterday. It’s as bad, if not worse now. Open the rear window and hit repetitive bumps and sounds like I’m carrying loose bolts in the bed. Turned right into a fairly steep driveway, huge pop/clunk as if the cab lifted on the right rear corner and then dropped down. Aggravating and embarrassing knowing that anyone within earshot can hear that metallic clatter as you pass by, like you’re driving an old bucket of bolts.

Ugh @RamCares

Five RAM trucks over the last sixteen years and my 2019 had to be the most disappointing because it was a beautiful truck but the rattling cab mounts made it the most undesirable vehicle to drive that I have ever owned. I tirelessly worked with my servicing dealer and the folks at FCA from early 2020 through November when they finally published the TSB to address this issue.

I scheduled my appointment to have the TSB performed and was exceptionally disappointed when I got the call from my service advisor informing that even with all the new parts installed it still rattled. The service department was ready to dig deeper and try to figure out why but FCA shut it down telling them they wouldn't be compensated for any time spent trying to remedy the rattle. I was told by my FCA Customer Retention Specialist that the TSB was completed and that the rattling that still existed was a natural characteristic of the vehicle.

They need to add that feature to the window sticker on the vehicles. I would have never purchased a $74k vehicle that sounded like it had 200k miles on it right off the dealer lot. After almost a year and a half later I finally found a permanent solution for the rattle, buy a different brand that backs its and supports its consumer. As much as it pained me I dumped my RAM and replaced it with a 2021 GMC 2500, while it isn't as nice of a truck as the RAM it doesn't rattle and that means everything to me. Right now is a great time to unload a truck as it is definitely a sellers market and if you dig well enough you can find a good deal on a replacement.

Crazy to think that a Denali HD is not as nice as a Ram lol. This is the new norm. But I completely understand what you did and why you did it. The CP4 debacle is going to have the same effect. @RamCares ...this is going to be bad for you guys.

Where’s the aftermarket on cab mounts? I thought I heard something several months ago... maybe some stacked up hockey pucks to replace these over complicated pieces of ****.
