Digital Rear View Mirror

At night especially in dark areas the rear view camera also works great vs trying to see through tinted rear glass

I test drove a 2021 3500 the other day with this digital rear view mirror and I am not a fan. I need reading glasses to see clearly anything around arms length and the rear view mirror is within that distance so using it results in just a blurry mess. Leaving it in mirror mode it works fine since I get the true depth of focus a mirror offers. I am curious if in mirror mode if it has the same auto-dim function as the standard mirror. As dealers get more trucks on their lots I want to go check them both out.

Mine auto dims.

Good to know. Any idea of the size of the digital mirror compared to the standard?

Hope the auto industry does not try to get rid of true mirrors for this reason alone.

Wish they'd put this as a standalone option instead of buried in the Safety Group.

I don't know the difference in size.

It’s the same size as the standard mirror, but it may seem a little odd to some because the shape of the mirror is “upside down” compared to the standard mirror.

Just in case you guys didn’t know, there are 3 maybe 4 different mirrors used on our trucks depending on the option content, the crazy thing is they all seem to look different or have a different shape

Different (separate) cameras, different points of view.

The Digital mirror can be adjusted for up/down angle and zoom.

The cargo cam is fixed, can only zoom down into the bed and can't be kept on (unless using NAViKS).

To expand, the display and camera resolution is much higher and clearer than the rest of the cameras as well.

I really, really like this feature, esp since the HDs are so big, relatively speaking. Check out the difference between the digital view and regular mirror view.

So the digital view image is the entire size of the mirror???

Yeah, it takes up the whole mirror. It's pretty nice. Took me a day to get used to. It's nice because it gives a much wider and unobstructed view. Downside is it's no good to check out a hottie behind you at a red light or drive thru.

Try the voice activated feature: “ENHANCE! ENHANCE!”

If anyone ends up finding out any more information on installing these in our 2020's, definitely post it and keep this form going.
