I’m buying a Hd and I want the diesel cause I want it not need. I need a 3500 because of the payload, I haul gravel, water, firewood, lumber, stone. I don’t care about the extra power of the H.O. Cummins, I do care about keeping the trucks for 30 years. I plan to mainly Daily drive the truck. Does the aisin make sense for better insurance I can drive the truck for years without trans problems. I know they doubled maintenance, I’m not a city guy needing a truck I can’t feel shift. I will be coming from a 1985 K20 4 speed. I just want advise on the trans I should go for. Mostly DD and hauling family around. Want to keep truck as long as I have the Chevy

The Aisin is a tough SOB. Don't sweat the maintenance, as the 30K change is just a fluid drop, and there is a drain plug in the pan. Use Mobil 399 fluid, and it is not an expensive proposition.

Oh, and you won't get invisible shifts with the Aisin, believe me!

That’s not a problem with me, question is, is it fine to haul the family around and daily drive. SRW btw

Will it be possible for me to get a 3500 tradesman, 4x4 crewcab, srw, black, barebones vinyl seats, longbed, with the aisin OTD for under 50k

I have the 68RFE in a 2019 Ram. I have had many Dodges and I fortunately found a great mechanic many years ago that has maintained all my trucks. He is a Chrysler / Dodge master mechanic that used to work for Dodge but has had his own shop
for about 7 years now. He is the best mechanic that I have ever seen or met and is a GOD fearing, honest good person. He literally knows, been trained and does it all to Dodges, Rams, and all their transmissions. He currently owns and drives 2 Dodges (one gasser and one 6.7 Cummins) and I own 3 Dodges ( two 5.9 Cummins and the the new 2019 6.7 Cummins ). Before I ordered my 2019 Ram I asked him what he recommend from a HO with Aisin, or standard with 68RFE. He without hesitation recommended the standard output with 68RFE. He says he likes the 68RFE over the Aisin because he says the 68RFE is a great transmission that works fine without any know defects, but if something were to happen, it is much easier and cheaper to work on a 68RFE than the Aisin. He says you can maintain and replace individual parts on the 68RFE, where on the Aisin you have to buy and replace a much larger component of the transmission rather than tearing it down and replacing a part, which translates into much more money. I went with his recommendation and currently have no complaints on how the 68RFE shifts or downshifts. I have not towed heavy yet, but so far extremely happy. Just thought I would throw in a mechanics perspective. I also use my 2019 as a daily driver and love it... SO much better in every aspect than my two 06s.
